a whole lot of film on Vizzina. Can he mount a legitimate challenge to Cade in spring ball?

Cade is our starting QB for the next two years. And yes, he has a lot of improving to do and needs to get bigger.

I think we all know, Dabo is extremely loyal to QBs. Ask Cole Stoudt, Kelly Bryant and DJU.

I wouldn't have it any other way. Kelly B took us to an ACC title and the playoffs. DJU got us to an ACC title. Cole Stoudt against Oklahoma was the catalyst that sparked our Natty runs.
Maybe Coach Swinney knows more about coaching football than you do...

KB took us to a CFP semifinal game. I don’t think people realize how much that actually means.

Don't know how much of a threat Vizzina will be, but yes,

all positions will be up for grabs, and the best player will play. It may not be who you or Tnet thinks is best, but it will be in the judgement of actual football coaches.

My guess is they redshirted him because he was nowhere near ready to compete and I can't imagine he's going to develop to the point of being a starter in one off-season.

This is the take.
If Vizzina was any kind of threat, we would have heard about it this year. Heck, I've heard that Hunter Helms was doing some good things in practice but he didn't get a look to check in for the games where Cade was off.
So, unless CK2 doesn't improve or Vizzina makes a Cam Newton leap this spring, CK2 is likely going to hold on to the starting job bearing injury. That said, Vizzina could be QB2 next year if HH doesn't come back for one last ride but I'm thinking he probably transfers out unless he's got coaching aspirations and sticks around as a GA.

So let me get this straight.
We recruited a 5 star QB - and he has had a whole year to make the adjustment to college ball - and has had as much time to learn Coach Riley's new system as Cade.
And he still cannot even mount the hint of a challenge to a QB who we all agree has much need to grow & improve.
Is V just not really a 5 star QB (and if so how did we miss on that evaluation) or has he not improved at all over the course of this year (who the #### is coaching the QBs)

V was a 4-star, rated as the #10 QB. That’s still pretty good, however we never know how they will develop at the next level. We had two 5-stars at the same time that never really did anything for us on the field, and eventually transferred.

That is the single largest factor in our “underachievement”.

If the motto is " Best is the Standard " not sure why there shouldn't be an open QB competition next spring. It is safe to say we've seen enough of Cade to know that he is no where near close to being best. He may be the best on the roster right now but we know that there will be others available in the portal who may be just as good or better than Cade. Transfer portal QB's seem to work for FSU, Oregon and Washington. Unless he makes a remarkable improvement, we can expect his same erratic deer in the headlights play come August 31, 2024 against UGA and things could get ugly real quick.
