Something we already knew, but Willy T has made it official via a post tonight on his Instagram that he’s indeed moving on to the next level with the Pirates. Hope he has a successful career. Gonna remember that 3 bomb game in game 1 against Upstate for a while. What a way to get out of a hitting slump. Thanks for everything Will.

Yep. Saw that. Told him my advice but he's a big boy. Good kid, nice family. Hope he got a degree, can't remember.

This may sound cold, but unless he or his parents continue to make nice financial commitments to Clemson, William was a loss. That's why I admire athletes like CW42 et al even more. They didn't jump ship and gave their all to Clemson.

We should discontinue our policy on 2 sports athletes, it's no longer feasible and you end up without contributions to either sport.

Yeah Will seemed promising but did not deliver much to either sport.

As I recall, he wasn't highly recruited in football, either. Many here thought he'd be the next Hunter Renfrow.

You need to recruit highly-rated kids and sprinkle in a project here and there. Not the opposite.

lol Will Taylor hit .362 as a sophomore and was a significant member of the team that year while hitting near the top of the lineup. He was in line to have a monster season this year and just got hurt, that’s got absolutely nothing to do with him playing football.

Had a few classes with his sister. They seem like good people. And he did graduate, so there wasn’t really anything keeping him here.

Not your post was “cold” as in cold hearted. It was “cold” as is freezing cold take.
I don’t think anyone thought Taylor would be an All American in football. He showed some good flashes his freshman year. He had a really good return against UGA that kept us in the game.
He was a good contributor when our WR core was thin until.
He was a three year starter an major contributor in baseball. Not sure how that is considered underperforming.
Injuries are really what kept him from being a star. The kid could have been a top 20 pick in MLB out of HS if he had not been clear he was going to Clemson. He chose to come to Clemson when it was not in his best financial interests to do so and risked injury to do so. Not sure why a Clemson fan would make a backhanded insult to a kid who chose to do that.

Cause he’s perfect and has always performed at the highest level in anything that he attempt. Plus he’s Probly 12 years old

Agreed, Will apparently loves Clemson and passed on MLB to attend here. I was pleasantly surprised what a good FB player he was his freshman year until he unfortunately tore his ACL. I will be pulling for him to do great things for the Pirates.

I have to agree. God love him for trying, but I really never saw a skillset that makes me believe he has a future in the big leagues. I hope he proves me wrong. Maybe he will be a late bloomer. And before anyone skewers me, we have had MANY players come through here that torched the college game, and still didn't make an impact in the majors. It takes a really special player to do it.

Tons of competition in MLB and not all come from the traditional US way to the big leagues. Some countries have really put out some studs. I figure there are plenty of studs stuck in the farm system.

Yep. Once upon a time, college players were almost considered to be leftover

talent. Studs either signed with clubs right out of high school, or as you say, came from out of the country. The Dominican Republic has certainly had their share.

I think he had a lot of potential but injuries just did not afford us the opportunity to see what he might have been! Wish him well!

Based on the 1st round billing out of HS, he was a disappointment, no other way around it. Injuries played a big part in that, but his Clemson career never materialized like most expected it would.
