Will Shipley

I am confused as how quickly yall have moved on from the guy.
When we were down and out a couple years with less "O" , the guy carried us.
He was not just the heart and soul of the team, but the muscle.

No Tiger has ever given more. On most of Dabo's teams where he would not be required to be "all", he would have set records. He was a complete player.

Loosing Shipley is the biggest set back for 2024, but folks never mention that.

Ship will have a shot this year to learn the game backing up Saquon Barkley with a high quality o-line, something that did not exist during his time at Clemson.

I'll be pulling for Ship this season.

Will Shipley was crucial to our success. He carried the load, for many games. He became the focus for.many defenses, because they knew our passing game was not what it used to be. (Man, I hate to say that). I believe that part of what got people so upset with him was his "Barry Sanders-esque" running style. He gets stuffed several times and then pop a good run. He was always fighting, always battling, which you couldn't say for some others. ( I'm not saying Will Shipley is B.S., just that the run stats looked similar) His frustration level, the last year, was evident and probably added to the negative image. I won't bash him. He is a Tiger and showed all the qualities of being one.

He definitely was frustrated last year. But he was full of heart and sometimes that is what you need.

He was a good player....not sure if I would put him in the same echelon many on this thread are doing but he was good. Had some great moments here and there but also had some really really bad ones too. Sadly his on field behavior is what I will remember most about him. Slamming his helmet, screaming at teammates and coaches, bowing up to Coach Spiller, basically just flipping out on the sidelines. Yes he had great passion but he was never able to channel that passion into greatness. Not one of my favorite Clemson players. Although I do love a good hurdle play.

Perfect post as to what I meant.
The guy was almost playing alone, so sure he had bad moments.
He was called on for miracles when we were 3 and forever when all knew he would get the ball.
Often he got that tuff extra yard.

UMMM, NO. IMO, he got too many touches, thus taking away

Yep my thoughts as well. Surprised Mafah didn’t head some where else. He could have played anywhere he wanted.

Ship was maybe a top 20 Clemson running back, and if you take his last 2 years maybe top 50. I don’t know him but I sat amongst his people at the Orange Bowl 2 years ago. I wish I didn’t. It tainted my image of him and made me sad there would be those type of attitudes amongst Clemson family that had received a lot of gravitas.

Open ended implication is sorry AF on your part because you failed to adequately recount anything of substance from supposed incident, provided 0 specifics, and 0 context(if there is any). This forces me to conclude you're liar with mental issues or an extreme prude with mental issues.

please name the game (Wake Forest and CK2s highlight reel ACCCG are the only wins vs teams finishing in the top 25 during his 3 seasons as RB1)

Phil Mafah is undefeated as RB1
with a W va ND and Drake Maye UNC

it's just the way it is

I am with you. Shipley was solid but Mafa has a higher ceiling***

Ship was all that you say. He was injured early his freshman year then healed up enough to take over leadership of the offense behind a struggling DJ to lead us to 6 straight wins to finish the season, then another 8 to start the next. He was heart and soul when needed the most. He also 4.0'd the classroom. Ballz!

Always have been and always will be a Ship fan. He gave CU everything he had. He’s not on the roster anymore so I’m not sure why we should be talking about him now other than hoping he Kicks butt in the pros.

He was a good player but not a complete player. Wayne Gallman and ETN were complete players. Shipley could not control his emotions, fumbled at inopportune times and went down too easily with shoestring tackles.

I liked him and will pull for him in the NFL but his leaving was not like ETN leaving as I watched ETN's highlights just yesterday.

Cade made a comment on Sirius XM yesterday that was very interesting. He said “ the hotheads and egos have moved on” speaking about this years team. He had to be talking about Shipley.
Shipley was a good player for Clemson and should be remembered as such.
I think we will be more productive at the position this year.
