Unfortunately get the feeling that if he didn’t commit while on campus that we may not land him.
Hope I’m wrong but I just get the sense that majority of the time, you have to lock down the commitment before they leave campus.
Hopefully he did give a verbal and if just hasn’t been leaked yet.

Expect him to sign with TAMU. If he signs with us then you will be pleasantly surprised. Lower your expectations, otherwise you will just disappointed frequently with portal players and recruits.

We need to pay the price for some people. Not many, but we need to for key positions each year. I wud be happy with these 2 if we can get Heldt. Maybe 3-4 total. But we have to pay. We can and we should.

Money matters as well as culture. Clemson is lacking the money and or will to pay it out. But it fits his narrative so it counts as trying.

There is no reason why he wouldn't announce if it were one of them. If he's coming to Clemson, holding off until after the game would make more sense.

yeah .... just have a bad feeling, we finally get a player on campus at a position of need and cant help to think we gave him the same old "Come here and be a part of the Clemson family... work hard and the NIL will come" speech
put it in perspective - a company offers you a chance to leave your current job, with no guarantee of increased salary and tells you "work hard and you can earn a raise." while other opportunities are saying, we'll give you a signing bonus...... and an increased salary.
which job are you taking almost everytime? why should college fb players be any different? I believe in Dabo, but the rules have changed and we are not playing by the new ones

We will have more chances come April. If we don’t land Heldt definitely will land someone some April. Probably some players on the 12 playoff teams that will transfer just haven’t yet because they are focused on the playoffs.

I wonder how many of you have managed a salaried budget. If you offer more to a potential new employee you had better be able to offer the same or more to existing employees of the same talent level or you will have a very disgruntled workforce. I don’t know if we have the budget to do that. How much are you willing to pitch in?

Heldt was not expected to commit while on campus. Already told staff he would return home, weigh options, talk to family, and then render a decision. I think we get him, fits our culture, and stands to get a lot of 1 on 1 with Parker on the other side.

which of course money will now be a part of every discussion with a transfer, especially at the highest level.
The fact he did not commit while here means CDS has same policy for transfer, you commit 100% or not at all and maybe he did want to make sure nowhere else was a better fit for him.
He will definitely play here, could be a starter, but will see plenty of snaps as long as his game continues to progress.
Would be a huge pickup at a position of need. Would love an elite level corner/safety

If its winning a conference or CFP participation you can't count on A&M to get there. They have too many in front of them every year to get to the CFP. We have a chance at the CFP even with our C level team. And we def have playing time at End.. all he can handle. Its the money part that A&M has over us. Doubt we can match them. Whatever we offer they'll be able to meet and exceed it for sure.
