Players are not prohibited from keeping in contact with friend / friendly acquitances that they have in other teams.

I could see that Dabo might ask our players (I.e., those who are likely to have had contact with players on other teams who play a position where we’ll have need in 2025) whether they know of someone at UNC or FSU that might be considering finding another home for 2025 season.

The player(s) would then … on their own initiative; not via any specific request from the coaches … reach out to olayer(s) on other teams and ask them ‘the question.’

Etc etc etc.

Other team player would learn that Clemson wants players at the position said other team’s player plays. Said other team player reaches out to Clemson coaches; says ‘how do I transfer to Clemson.’ Clemson coaches advise the player to enter the portal as the first step, and then says ‘we can’t say anything else, or that would be tampering.’ Clemson coaches thank said other team’s player profusely and say we very much thank the player for reaching out to us.

Finally, Clemson coaches tell the Clemson player that their friend wo7ld be a very welcome addition to the Tigers 2025 team.

Would that constitute tampering?

Maybe Travis Shaw will become available; he might be worth a one year gamble.

As we know, T.Shaw showed up in Chapel Hill as overweight and then got fatter. Much fatter.

Finally, in his 3rd year at UNC, he’s slimmed down some (he’s still overweight, but no longer Moby Dink size).

We recruited him hard back in the 2022 recruiting class cycle, so he knows us.

As for NIL cost, he shouldn’t be ridiculous.

I believe that the combination of that Clemson offers as far as a tough-love program (fatty guys know they won’t play much here unless they get into shape) and our need to find a ready to go DT to replace D.Capehart (? - also Tre Williams ?) would make another experienced DT guy who might just be ready to live up to his #1 DT prospect in the country a real plus for the 2025 team.
