the entire last drive by SMU and not putting pressure on the QB?
Was that admitting weakness to stopping their speed?
Not sure. Not the coach. Just wondering.

while keeping everything in front of them and not giving up the big play.
A lot of times, you'll see the teams turn it over on downs or have a turnover with that many critical plays.

Played into it as well. Keep an extra guy or two paying instead of getting pressure. Make him beat you with his arm instead of legs.

the dialed back the awesomeness a little this week...That appeared to be a lot more effective than benching our leading tackler in the 4th quarter

On their last drive we played 4 man front on first play and forced a bad throw. Then we went to 3 down lineman rest of drive and they gashed us.

Well, adjustments are good ..if you make the right ones ..it helps to have the coaches with the experience to realize when they’re not working and then, readjust ..

The goal of the strategy was so that they could score and we could run the kickoff back 40 yards, run an offensive play for 10 yards and kick a FG with 0 seconds on the clock. It was all a sequence of plays called by Dabo to win the game, make an otherwise very disappointing performance be forgotten, win the game and get him a new contract. Now he is an overachiever. You guys just don't get it.

Dabo had little to do with that win. Look at the surprise and elation he exhibited at the end of the game, he was taken completely by surprise.

If you are going to play three down linemen (which I absolutely hate), you better make darn sure that all of the receivers are covered. I don't think we did a very good job of that. On the TD play where Barrett Carter's man just ran right by him, if Barrett had gone with the receiver, Jennings would have just waltzed into the end zone. No help on that side. We have been lousy on the edges the entire year and if we can't get it cleaned up over the season I have little hope that we will for the playoffs.

I would love to hear a coaches explanation of this failed nickel Why why why. It was a friggin failure. Someone grow a set and let us know about the why. Also why have some on the ropes and call off the offense. I really think this needs to be address not by us but the coaches

I love Barrett Carter, but he seems a little off this year. Not sure why, but doesn't seem as dynamic and has missed a number of tackles he normally makes.

That is putting it nicely . He has been awful , can’t tackle against the run or cover anyone either . Hate to say it but surely we have a young LB that would be better than him at this point . He can’t get off a block to save his life .

It almost never works. The opposing teams just pick us apart. I don’t understand why you go away from a 4 man front and blitzing linebackers on the last drive if what you’ve been doing is (relatively) effective. We have a lot of talent on defense but are rarely dominant as in years past. Wes has done less with more, in my opinion.
