Why there haven't been any rock bands at SB halftime in a while

This is a good article regarding rock acts and the SB halftime show. A little excerpt:
"Jay-Z's Roc Nation entertainment company was brought on board in an advisory role with the league in 2019. Since then, halftime performers have included Lopez, the Weeknd, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar and Usher.
"I think that for a long time, and not just the NFL, but America in general looked at rap as this fad thing," Jay-Z told Business Insider. "It's the No. 1 genre in the world and has been that way. ... So I would love for these platforms [to become] more inclusive of our music."
"In the meantime, some of rock's remaining acts may have simply aged out of the event – either physically or because their music isn't as resonant with newer generations.
"It's become less about music unfortunately and more about just the spectacle," Metallica's Hetfield said. "When we played for the 50th anniversary of the [Super Bowl] ... right here in our hometown, and they didn't have us do it – that would have been the time. Maybe that time has passed?"

No way! Jay-Z picks the halftime entertainment. Rap and strip-club choreography are the standard now. Just like a shooting at the championship parade.

Who’s asking the tough questions to the NFL, like who needs to ask the Baja Men to do the halftime show? Who, who, who, who, who?

They are writing and singing their own music and they are darn good. I suppose you will also tell me I can’t like Sturgill Simpson because he is a Waylon Jennings ripoff. Give me a break.

...form of music compared to the past.
Rock kind of ran out of new ideas and sounds by the 90's.
I wish it would come back. Makes me think Country music is next....tic tok?

I generally agree but there are some really good country acts out there. You just don’t find them in the Nashville popgrass scene. Definitely Sturgill Simpson, Stapleton and Tyler Childers are special talents. Other really good ones hide in the Texas-Oklahoma country scene like the Turnpike Troubadours, Jason Boland and the Stragglers, Wade Bowen and and a bunch more. That Texas Oklahoma country scene is real country music. Check it out.

Seriously though - RnR is dead. Do they even have a "Best Rock Album" at the Grammy's anymore?
I'm sure if you looked up streams/downloads - there wouldn't be an RnR song in the Top 100.

Truly, as much as I hate it too, there just really aren't enough relevant TODAY and "big enough" rock bands left. U2, Metallica, MAYBE Ozzy, then who?

And honestly Metallica isn’t pop enough.
There aren’t any ‘big’ R&R bands left that are both relevant or around

I think the Super Bowl had a decent show this year. Not too too long ago they had Duran Duran and the Who.
Gotta get GOOSE for next year!

Alicia Keys did not sound good. I appreciate her talent and songs she has written, but it doesn't mean she didn't sound off during halftime. I'm not an Usher fan . .but from watching him on the Voice, I respect his. However, he didn't sound very good either. So technically speaking, I don't see how anyone can say it was a great show.

would love to see the Foo Fighters play SB - they are probably one of the biggest R&R acts that have a great following, still putting out new music and have a worldwide audience.
