I thought the D keep us in the game yesterday. When it mattered the D played lights out.

md has like 20 players missing on offense

Oct 27, 2013, 10:36 AM

And still rung up 450 yds and ,27 pts

Look when lots of those yards were "rung up".

Oct 27, 2013, 10:41 AM

It was after the O finally started to click and the D relaxed. We held MD back for about 3.5 quarters. Even Venables admitted that his only disappointment was just that. We essentially gave them 14 points by slowing pursuit of the ball midfield. We did the same against NCSU and let them convert 4, that's FOUR, consecutive 4th downs.

We probably wouldn't do it against a better team or when the score stays closer. It's not good football, but for whatever reason it's the way the players play. Even their coaches aren't thrilled with it.

They only had 364 yards of offense, and most of…..

that was on their final two touchdown drives. I understand facts go over the head of lounge trolls, but wise up get your facts straight. Two drives that had no bearing on the outcome of the game. Didn't like giving up late TD's, but the defense played excellent when it mattered.

the offense playrd good

Oct 27, 2013, 10:52 AM

Just couldn't punch it in to start. If at least 2 of those are TDs, no one is saying a thing today.

Good? Count the turnovers. 3. That's good?

Oct 27, 2013, 11:01 AM

The offense did what they had to do to win, but playing "good" didn't come until the 4th. Magically, when Boyd is given freedom to use his feet when he needs, his entire performance shifts and the whole squad follows. Lesson learned, maybe.

Ralso bitching about offense is good

Pointing out d is being a troll. Got it.

What you post isn't necessarily your opinion….

Oct 27, 2013, 11:12 AM

you loungers post stuff to get angry reactions or to cause moronic arguments. Sorry, but can never believe a single post from lounger.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The defense is playing good. Run along now, time to go...

Oct 27, 2013, 10:46 AM

back to the lounge, lounge troll.

Maryland drove the ball down the field 3 times on us. One ended in an INT. The other 2 were against a prevent when we were up big. When the game mattered, they gave up 13 points - one chunk play and stifled Maryland when the offense put them in a bad spot twice. The defense played well all game for us.

No. 4 in NCAA in 3rd down conversion percentage, No. 1 in sacks, No. 30 in scoring defense (where it really counts) ahead of LSU and South Carolina. I see a lot to feel good about on that side of the ball.

D kept us in the game and then gave up a couple

Oct 27, 2013, 11:02 AM

of late TDs. UMD's QB did miss open receivers a few times and help us as they did with penalties.

Re: why so much talk about offense when the D

The simple fact is our secondary does not seem smart enough to match up in zone coverage and we get lost. This leaves wideouts wide open. There were some drops and overthrows that bailed the D out. Winston did not miss these which is why we got smoked by FSU. I think we may be better lining up in man to man most of the game.

Also, the pressure with our front for has been missing the last couple of games. I think Beasley would be better served staying for his senior season. (Hopefully he feels this way.)

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Are you serious?

Oct 27, 2013, 11:07 AM

If the O did it's job and got Touchdowns, and not Field Goals, this game would have been over by halftime. The score should have been like 27-7 at half, but because the O is in a funk, they let Maryland hang around. That is NOT on the D.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The D certainly has issues as well.

Oct 27, 2013, 11:45 AM

Too many missed tackles, bad angles, breakdowns and big plays, especially against a team like MD.
