Because he was unconventional and Dabo had several obvious choices like the DL coach under Venables, but he chose Goodwin with zero experience. A feel good story like himself. No actual logic behind the move, just straight preference

What difference would it make? We couldn’t tackle him with three players so why would one spy work. He was the best player on the field and it wasn’t even close.

Because we dont have a LB fast enough to make a spy worth the effort. They had the right idea just poor execution. Rush him, force him to step up or roll out. The problem was they never realized they needed to break off the rush when they flushed him. Force him to cut back inside, not just run away from guys crashing in on him. At least half a dozen times they had him dead to rights and just kept pushing upfield letting him run around the Dline containment and pull away.

Brown actually did a consistent job in the 1st half. Then the coaching staff decided not to play him the entire 2nd half and so 17 & 44 were getting destroyed.

We had a spy on him on the late TD run, but Woodaz came up too close to the line and allowed himself to get blocked out of the play. The LB was abysmal. For as much as I think Goodwin is a bad college DC, he's a worse position coach. The LB play has been awful all year.

A spy wouldn’t have helped. By the fourth quarter we should’ve been playing contain. Keep Parker and woods in front of him rather than rushing past him.
