Why is WD-40 Non-Aresol so Darn Expensive?

I found a loop hole and ordered a gallon jug for a little more than the 20 oz can that I'll put in my own sprayer. I thought it should be cheaper than the regular can with the fancy straw. Please discuss.

It's interesting how WD-40 first came to us. The scientist who invented it was working in a national defense lab trying to find a coating that would repel moisture and prevent corrosion on the outside of the first intercontinental ballistic missile. After 39 unsuccessful attempts, he finally found a formula that would work. He named his new invention "Water Displacement #40 Formula". People who worked with it started finding other non-military uses for it at home. It was eventually commercially marketed and sold to the general public under a shortened, more catchy name, WD-40.
My suspicion is that the people who first used it to coat the outside of missiles weren't using 20 oz cans either.

Ironically, some local fishing guides on Lake Marion and Moultrie spray it on their cut baits to entice catfish bites. It actually contains some type of fish oil.

It is made from fish oil. The atoms are smaller than petroleum based therefore it makes it a better penetrating oil. And another fact, the old timers used it on achy arthritic joints, I remember my grandfather doing this. Recent studies show that the molecules are small enough to be absorbed through the skin and there is a real benefit to lubricating achy joints with WD-40.

Sounds like you got 108 ounces extra for “a little more than the 20 oz can”. Sounds reasonable.

Got to admit though. It was an interesting discussion. Had no idea where it came from! And I've been using it for decades. Does stop what " sticks or squeaks. And I've had a lot of sticking and squeaking over the years.

repair tools you need.
If it's moving and it's not supposed to, apply the duct tape.
If it's NOT moving and it IS supposed to, apply the WD-40.
Oh, if only it really was just that simple!
