Why can't there be football only conferences .......

and leave all of the other sports in the conferences they are in. That way, we are not concerned about flying cross country for a volleyball match.

I don't think ESPN or Fox would be too concerned.

You have stumbled onto the future of college football. The 60+ major schools, regardless of geography or conference affiliation, will within 5 years withdraw their football programs from the NCAA. An NFL- lite arrangement of divisions, playoffs and Super Champ will result. The money will be huge as cup cake games will be gone and every match will have quality teams with genuine significance.
Imagine the 12 game schedules that would result.

Dabo said several years ago that is exactly what needs to happen. He stated that some schools want to invest in football and others do not.
