I’m curious who out there would check all the boxes and fire up Tnet/the fan base?

He seems like a good candidate. Not a household name, but a solid base hit, maybe a double or a triple?

Every hire is a gamble. There are no sure-fire hires.

Lincoln Riley to USC checked all the boxes. Jimbo Fisher to aTm checked all the boxes. Dan Mullen, when he went to Florida, checked all the boxes.

Dabo Swinney checked none of the boxes. Bobby Bowden checked only a few boxes. Josh Huepl checked about half the boxes. Kenny Dillingham got the job at AZ ST only because he had ties to the school and nobody else would take the job.

It's even tougher with assistant coaches. As a fan, I have very little idea who will end up being a "great hire."

Phil Parker. Won the Broyles award as DC at Iowa when Iowa had the most 3 and outs in football. Very impressive.

Lesser-knowns who show some upside are Symons from SMU or Benedetto at NIU.

This is all so fraught; between the Goodwin to OU rumors and the Brownell to Miami watch, I'm too verklimpt for words.
