MJ - then Wilt.
Think about it - if they played 1 on 1, MJ would beat him. Wilt wouldn’t be able to drive past him.

The NBA is all about championship rings, if that is the gage Bill Russell won 11 titles in 13 years. If rings are not the gage I will say MJ, Wilt, LeBron, Bird & Magic but Russell, Jabbar & the Big O are right up there

Had to see what AI thought about all this…it’s long
1. Michael Jordan (GOAT Argument - Peak Dominance & Titles) • 6× NBA Champion, 6× Finals MVP, 5× MVP • Career Averages: 30.1 PPG, 6.2 RPG, 5.3 APG, 2.3 SPG (NBA Record for Highest Career PPG) • Advanced Stats: 27.9 PER (Best in NBA history), 214.0 WS, 56.9 TS% • Playoff Dominance: 33.4 PPG (NBA record)
2. LeBron James (GOAT Argument - Longevity & All-Around Play) • 4× NBA Champion, 4× Finals MVP, 4× MVP • All-Time Leading Scorer (40,000+ Points and Counting) • Career Averages: 27.1 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 7.4 APG • Advanced Stats: 27.3 PER, 255+ WS (Most in NBA history), 58.7 TS% • Playoff Dominance: Most all-time playoff points
3. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (GOAT Argument - Longevity & Consistency) • 6× NBA Champion, 6× MVP (Most MVPs in History) • 38,387 Points (All-Time Leader Until LeBron Surpassed Him) • Career Averages: 24.6 PPG, 11.2 RPG, 3.6 APG • Advanced Stats: 24.6 PER, 273.4 WS (NBA record)
Who is the Best According to Stats? • Most Points Ever: LeBron James • Most MVPs: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (6) • Highest Career PPG: Michael Jordan (30.1) • Best PER (Player Efficiency Rating): Michael Jordan (27.9) • Most Win Shares (Overall Impact): Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (273.4)
Verdict: • If you value peak dominance & scoring efficiency → Michael Jordan • If you value all-around greatness & longevity → LeBron James • If you value sustained excellence & accolades → Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Absolutely all of those stats are real. However, the question posed was entirely different. It was who is the best basketball player. Simply Larry Bird. His mastery of the total game was above the others. Your list was a stat list of specific things, points, championships, etc. but if you add them all up and then watch the tape, it tells the true story.

Larry Bird was amazing and is on my all-time team, but MJ drove his teams to championships more than even Bird. MJ's defense was even better than Bird's. I like Bird more, but it's simply not rational on any level to act like MJ wasn't the best. Magic Johnson (who I also like more than MJ) explains it best. The more you know about behind-the scenes NBA from the 80's onward, the more confident you get that MJ was the best. Nobody who knows says Bird is better than MJ. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAMxKR91Eoc

The rules changes made it impossible to compare anything after the early 2000's to previous eras.
No other sport has been so thoroughly sabotaged like that.

If I had to put my best together and it wasn't for career, but just at their best for a game my team would be...
Lebron at PG. He can play anywhere. Jordan 2 Kobe 3 Bird. 4 Olojuwan 5

We talking about a game or practice? I'm talking about practice, practice! Allen Iverson was good, Dr J was unbelievable, Magic was amazing, Kareem just about unstoppable, Wilt was unstoppable, Bill Russell was awesome, Kobi was as close to Jordan as anyone, Bird would talk sh it then beat you to death while letting you know there wasn't a thing you could do about it, But, there is only 1 - MJ, an he is the GOAT!
