I benched 310 back in the 80s and wanted to bench 315 which would be 3 45s on each side but would probably have to be 320 with 2 locking collars to keep the weights from sliding off since the bar bends some. I kept working out but never got around to maxing 320.
And I did it without cheating, where you bounce it off your chest and arch your back. I wonder how much more you can bench doing that. You're basically bouncing it halfway back up and sort of pressing down. Plus you risk injury. I've seen guys that benched with 4 45s on each side - that's 410 with the locking collars.
I think most public gyms won't let you max out these days for fear of injury and litigation. You must have weights of your own at home.

Your words are true.
I have found weight rooms to be fields of dreams. Too many arrogant and cocky guys who take it way too seriously.
They morph into this weight room talking language and lose touch with reality. They also go on crazy diets.
The biggest thing I have discovered is that VERY FEW LAST. Most quickly fade away and only a few (a very few) remain. I call them the 1%ers.
Yes, I have my own little gym in my sunroom. I lift with coffee and YouTube. Alone. No spotter. It is beyond dumb of me to max out without a spotter and I have gotten stuck before and it is dangerous. But, I do it. Max is 305 and it gets harder each year to do that.
You know your weights. Your lifting is quite good, too. I guess I cheat to do 305, but I got no choice.

Get a power rack with safety bars and you can max out alone with no fear of injury.
