Who do you think will be our starting QB.....

next year?
Stoudt because he'll be a rising senior and has been in the program the longest?
Kelly because of his skills and worth ethic?
The new kid Watson who seems to have it all coming out of HS.
I just don't see Stoudt IMO being a starting QB - don't think he has it - can't see focusing on him since he'll only have one year to be the QB. IMO Kelly should be the starter while they watch Watson to see how he's coming along.

Stoudt wont be in my opinion.

Chad Kelly will get the go, because he adds the dual threat factor. Which gives our offense life. I think Stoudt should transfer to a team like UF where he is in a pro style offense. The guy can throw a ball though.

That can be taken three ways.

1. We have that gawdawful two QB system. 2. We are killing people so Kelly gets PT. 3. We are getting killed so Kelly gets PT.

I think Stoudt will, BUT

After watching Deshaun Watson Friday night, this kid is unbelievable. The fact that he's enrolling early will really make things interesting. That being said, the sky is the limit if he red shirts and has a whole extra year and a half under his belt before he starts. I like Chad, and I think he'd be successful in this offense, but I think we have too much talent at QB right now with Cole having better accuracy and senior, and DW having the "it" factor.

Stoudt and Kelly would have to really blow up Spring

practice and all in order for Watson to even be considered. So Watson is the least likely starter to me.
Stoudt is starting to find his running game but he looks like someone who would get snapped into pieces if he had to really face some defenders. He runs when he's given some open field mostly.
Kelly is still playing like an over-caffeinated kid. He can run like a back but yesterday like in other games he stumbled all over himself a number of times. Like his brain is ahead of his body. His torso gets ahead of his legs. He seems jittery still in general. Just freshman nerves most likely.
It's a tough call, but I think the starting spot is Stoudt's to loose. He has the best potential to be an accurate thrower and our offense will still be loaded up on receivers and TEs more than runners next year.
Anything can happen but as long as Stoudt and Kelly stay healthy and compete for the spot I don't see any reason not to RS Watson for a year. And I agree with others who think either of them need to beef up a little.
Just my view.

I agree. Kelly really needs to work on passing skills. I realize yesterday was mop-up and maybe that's what was called but Kelly looks like run first, pass maybe back there. Makes me nervious about his decision making -- just a thought, time will tell.
Anyhow, what great problems to have at QB. Sure is an improvement.

Stoudt will get the nod, but Kelly will play a lot too, Watson will probably redshirt if possible.

Nick Schuessler. Every play he ran Sat went for a TD. With that kind of production, and if we're running 80+ plays a game we should be scoring at least 560 points a game!
Seriously though, who knows. It'll all be decided in the Spring. It'll be a battle for sure.

They will both start and probably split series while Watson learns on the sideline ready to come in if an injury occurs.
Stoudt is a baller.
So is Kelly.

if he thinks he will be a run-first quarterback, which it appears he will attempt to be. It won't work at this level. I hope he realizes that.

Watson has a better arm and running ability than Stoudt or Kelly and more upside. If he's as good as they say it will be very interesting to see what happens. IMHO as much as I like Stoudt I'd like to see Watson or Kelly win the job so we won't have a 1st year starter two years in a row.

Morris is willing to have two different style QBs in the same season, especially given his reluctance to let Tajh sit when clearly out of it. It appears that Morris likes to pick one QB and go with him. But that may be unique to Tajh and his situation as a returning senior --- forgoing the NFL draft (a draft in which I don't think Tajh would have been drafted very high, in my opinion). Time will tell if Tajh will be successful in the pros. Some QBs can be outstanding college QBs, but not so much in NFL. Charlie Ward and Woody Dantzler are examples.

I don't see how a true freshman could beat out Stoudt or Kelly. If Watson were to beat out both Stoudt and Kelly, that would be amazing. And what would Kelly do? Would he be happy to ride the bench for 3 years -- just waiting for Watson to get hurt or have a bad game? Would he be willing to be the Mark Richt to Jim Kelly of the Miami Hurricanes of 1979-1982? How ironic would that be?!?!?
