If we had the choice, why on earth would we pick playing in the Big whatever they are and force all our actual student athletes to schlep their row boats, golf bags, field hockey sticks, etc all across the country? Especially when we could join the last truely regional conference with natural rivals and a greater opportunity for parents to watch their kids play a sport they love before they have to enter the real world? Coast to coast travel for sports that play more than 5 away games a year is insane.
Plus, do you really want to go to Indiana, ever? Let alone in December for a conference championship game

Why can't we all just get along, get out of the ACC, start a College Football League with 64 teams, play a 16 game schedule and call it a day or call it NFL-Lite. Not too picky when it comes to the names.
It will happen eventually. Why delay the inevitable.
