anyone who watches even a little bit of college basketball from around the country can see that we are a top 25 team.
The problem is that most of these morons who vote in the AP poll don’t watch much basketball outside of their little bubbles.

I'd say in the recent weeks we are playing like a top 10-15 team. Many top 25 teams are pretty good but we have been playing better than most.

I know I'm in the extreme minority but I think the ranking is fair and just. I would imagine the fans over at st Mary's are pretty ticked too. And they have a better record than us. Who would we replace? We got one really "good " win. Early season upset win over a Kentucky team. So we're 1-0 against AP top 25 teams.
Yeah, we've been winning games but I'm a firm believer that not all q1 or q2 teams are equal. Sure scar is a q2 loss but really, they're pathetic. I doubt anyone would consider beating them a good win... even if a q2 dub.
We're 2-1 record against conference foes with a winning record. That doesn't exactly blow your doors off.

Just depends on how you look at it. Most of those teams have a higher NET ranking but have more Ls. Losing to good teams shouldn't be better then beating bad teams. That seems to be the case tho and u seem to agree with it sadly.

I watch us think we are struggling in so many areas that it’s led me to believe Duke and GT will blow the doors off of us. Wear ok. We’re not too 25 and that will play out this upcoming week.

I agree CGA, but like football, at some point the "eye test" has to play some role although it is difficult to base ranking solely on that criteria. I guess because I watch them more than any other team, and the voters see them occasionally, then that could account for the ranking. Ultimately though it doesn't matter and I suspect we will get a reasonable amount of respect when we are seeded for the tournament. We still have some games left and it is no time to think too far ahead!

The ACC is so bad that we have no good wins over a decent team in conference.
The ACC has been declining for 10-15 years - never worse than this one.
Are we better or the same and everybody else got worse in conference?
Sadly, we won’t know until dance.
But, the good news, is we should make it.

Which why we should credit our admin for improving our non conference SOS from years past. Its a good thing and may be the difference in getting in or getting left out.

never understood why Clemson always has to do more to be recognized in basketball than other schools. Program history has zero to do with what a team is each year. If it did, no way Auburn would be getting as much love as they do.
Clemson is a better team than UK, it wasn’t a fluke we beat them, yet even a loss to Arkansas and Clemson still keeps them ranked ahead of us.
Does it matter as far as seedlings go come NCAAT time, probably not. However, u have to believe being ranked does help with recruiting. The idea that if Clemson doesn’t beat Duke this week, then we do not deserve to be ranked , is ridiculous . Top 5 teams are Top 5 because they do not lose much, so chances are we go 1-1 this week. And then the argument will be , well they had a chance to be ranked by beating Duke, and failed .

Even if we lose to Duke, beating a GA Tech. team that's on the rise will convince me we're deserving of a top 20 ranking. If we follow up with a win over the Holes which I will fully expect if we will if beat GT and keep it close against Duke we are worthy of a top 15 slot in my book.

Because the AP voters are lazy and stupid.
When Clemson is at the top of the ACC it's just another sign to them how weak the ACC is.
They aren't watching the games.

We haven't performed all that well as a ranked team under our current leadership, so keeping us outside helps maintain that competitive edge. Like prior seasons, including last, we tend to crap the bed against middling teams when we have a number beside us, and start tearing it up once that number disappears. I feel much more confident about our two games this week being in the position we're in today than I would if we had cracked the AP.
Coaches on the other hand, being our competitors, seem more motivated to see us ranked. No problem serving out the rat poison for us.
We should relish not being ranked as it simply adds fuel to the fire for one of our toughest season stretches ahead, setting up nicely for some entertaining games for our home crowd.
