Where did you live in Johnstone Hall?

No comments from non-RH alums.
F4 - at the end of the Annex Hall. My wall was curved in from too many drunk shoulders. My bed wouldn't fit up against the wall.
Nasty stairwells. One big shower room. We did get curtains on the stalls mid-fall semester. Girls were in A section. And the typical 24-7 Led Zeplin neighbor across the hall.

F-107, 1976-1980. Right across from the CUFD. My roommate was a volunteer firefighter. All of F-1 was called “The Hedgehogs” because of the hedge of shrubs that were along the ledge.

B-9 my freshman year, and old F-4, same room for the last three years. My room faced away from the street (and the sun), so the ledge was a relatively cool place to sit out on during nice days. It was also right next to the showers and bathroom, which was good and bad, given the paper thin walls.

1988 can't remember the hall, 2nd floor and best view out my window, Death Valley across the way. First weekend there was the big snowstorm and our floor went in and bought a keg ang put it the snow. First of many great memories of CU and Johnstone.

Fresh yr E328 both semesters staring at DV over the power plant and E327 one semester staring at Harcombe and Edgars. I went to Thornhill 3 semesters after that then off campus. Thornhill was fun, my neighbors were baseball players. Lots of good stories there.

E3 was alway the party hall because we were ground level. We ran possums and skunks into the hall and closed the doors a few times, it was great!

At least we had a bathroom sink in our room. Can’t tell you how many times I peed in that sink. Saved a long trip to the bathroom, which was right across the hall.

Never peed in the sink, but peed out the window on the concrete ledge more than once. Probably puked on the ledge more than once too! Im not sure if I did or not, but my roommate and friends definitely did.

JStone was down to just main (formerly A) and annex when I was there. I don't remember which floor but we were the last room in main before the annex. It was a huge pain in the ### being right next to the stairs.

I think it was C section 1976-1977. Then we moved to one of the shoe boxes. Can't remember the number. But it was looking down on the walkway going towards the cafeteria. Good place to watch girls go by.

The E-2 Zoo freshman year 1996. All the doors were painted with designs like Nike and other things. I got my door and it was pink with splatter paint all over it. People would drive mopeds down the hall. I remember my parents came up one Sunday after a football game and my dad’s friend almost got hit by a moped and he thought that was the coolest thing.

C803 in 1966 overlooking Quad and across from CDH CLEMSON DINING HALL... F DORM IN SUMMER OF 1966, facing the jail and power plant and Death VAllEY. EXTREME HEAT DUE TO STEEL walls and direct western sun on F DORM. OPEN COMMUNITY showers . Large metal trash barrels at each end of hall, and these were always on fire smoking up the hall. Oh yeah, the two yankee boys across the hall played SMOKEY and TEMPTATIONS music non stop,. MY DOOR WAS USUALLY LOCKED, UNTIL CHRISTMAS BREAK, WHEN RAT SEASON ENDED( to avoid upper classman) .... .moved out of the tin cans before the end of my Freshman year, hard to study in tin cans.. B DORM WAS THE HOME OF THE BOTTLE BOMBERS WHO HURLED GLASS BOTTLES ONTO QUAD every day and night. TWENTY FIVE PERCENT OF FRESHMAN DID NOT MAKE IT BACK FOR SOPHOMORE YEAR (SHOULD HAVE BEEN 50 percent). IT WAS A HELL OF A TIME> SO LONG AGO.

B5. Late 80’s. When I got there the older guys had officially registered B5 as a campus organization. We got block seating for football games along with the frats. We even had a float in First Friday parade.
I’ve got a “B5 Roach Motel” t shirt somewhere.

Either F4 or F5 Annex in 1986. Driving me crazy that I can't remember which floor (or room number). F445, maybe? Not sure.
Nasty stairwells also, one big shower room. I think I remember bathroom stalls with no doors AND a row of toilets with no walls at all. Maybe the stalls were vandalized? Heck, it's only been 37 years...

F3 right across from the Phys Plant, West side. All windows, west wall, no A/C. Like getting into a car in a hot sun parking lot. 100+ degrees after a lab. How did we do it???

E4. Won't ever forget the RA making me walk in just a towel to the union (memory fading if I have the name correct) to get a spare room key after my roommate locked me out while in the shower. Couldn't do that these days I'm sure. Many nights heating pop tarts up on our iron which was pretty much our definition of cooking back then.

A-8…1982/83 and A-8 annex….1983/84. At that time A building was girls and the other 5 buildings were for boys. The sink in the room was different but useful and the gun racks were our “closets” 😳 they had curtains over them and were very small for girls to use as closets!

I don't remember the number . . but it over looked the fire dept. And I was the only person , my roommate too , that actually painted their entire dorm room. I mean, who else would do that in Johnstone ? LOL

Fall 1982-Who burned the Pinto the evening b4 the USC game

A USC student had parked his Pinto beneath F section passageway. Someone threw a bale of hay in it and torched it. The Fire Dept. was across the street but took forever to arrive. I walked up from the Pit shortly after and the owner was yelling at everyone not to take any pictures. LOL!!! Look it up in the 1983 Taps Yearbook - it's online at: https://tigerprints.clemson.edu/yearbooks/81/

I was on the ground floor on E, facing the road that ran in front of the post office. I think there was one or two floors below us, because my roommate, from Newburgh, NY lost 7 keys our freshman year and he would have to enter the room through the window. He had to jump the “moat” onto the concrete ledge to access the window.
