in the second half then you lose your tempo and rhythm and it is hard to get back again. That is exactly what happened in the second half. Dabo is not a very good offensive coach. Chad Morris would not allow Dabo to interfere with his play calling.

We got behind in the 2nd half. We were lucky that Cade broke the long QB draw or we would have lost the game. .

We do have more success with the faster tempo, but then we just abandon it. That was painfully obvious against Louisville. I can’t say Dabo is the cause.

Have you ever thought that, wait for it,,, hurry up offensive is not so new anymore. D coaches have learned to adjust to it. It still works to a degree but it’s not as effective as it was several years ago. I liked it when Tigers ran it but you have to have the right players in place to run it.

Honestly I think believe it or not he’s trying to shorten the game after getting a 10 point lead bc he doesn’t trust the defense , which is something we haven’t said in a very long time

Doesn’t trust the defense? We had how many 3 and outs in the second half? If it wasn’t for the defense, we would have lost 56-24. If you don’t trust your defense, you score a lot of points, not leave the on the field for 12 minutes in a quarter

Yes it is speculation on how involved Dabo is. He is still the HC and can override plays and dictate pace. I wouldn't be surprised if he made GR slow it down and eat the clock in the second half.

Well, we have had 3 offensive coordinators over 4 years and it all looks like the sos. Do you see it differently? I’d go back to say it looks like the offense did when Dabo was first hired. I don’t think that is a coincidence. I don’t think they trust Cade enough to run GR’s offense, so they are using Dabo’s. No conspiracy other than that.

I don't think he was calling it "evidence." He is just pointing out a pattern. May or may not mean anything, but I don't think it was empirical evidence one way or another.
Can't we at least discuss the obvious change of offensive play quality. Has to be some reason for it. Unless we are accepting that Pitt simply made adjustments and we had no answer...until tempo picked back up on that last drive and Cade got loose and in space.

I mean from my armchair and bleacher, Cade looks like a 5* QB when the games on the line or he’s playing with tempo and a 4* when we start the conservative and slower play style comes out. As for the evidence, I’d watch the 2022 South Carolina second half with a different QB and OC and compare it to yesterday’s second half before the final do or die drive.
It’s not a knock on Dabo, he’s a conservative guy. It’s won us championships. But this year we don’t have the dudes healthy enough to play methodically. Just let Cade ball out and he’ll look like freaking Lamar Jackson

Dabo exclusively focuses on getting the win and not style points. With all the injuries, I really think he just wanted to get out with an ugly win rather than a pretty loss.

THIS.. anybody remember the game at Auburn several years ago? When we had to Sean Watson and all those studs on the team? While I think we could have beaten that Auburn team by 20 points Dabo admitted post game he went conservative because as he put it he had seen a lot of crazy things happen at that field. That's who he is and will always be. I'm not as bothered by it as something to me. As long as we get the w. Every now and then it will backfire. It does happen. Are there other things that we need to address? Yeah and it's going to start with coughing up some nil money or we're going to start losing all of the recruits in my opinion

I agree, but I think with the injuries, the slow play style actually hurt more than just letting Cade play tempo and sling it around. That conservative offense has both won us games and lost (or nearly lost) us games.
I call it the prevent offense.

I don’t think it’s run vs not run, it’s tempo that’s looks to be the issue to me. When Cade slows everything down and has too much time to think, he overthinks and makes mistakes. When he plays with tempo and purpose, he’s a Heisman contender. I think they just need to let Cade play his speed and not overthink everything. Get a first down and keep it going vs waiting 35 seconds while everyone is lined up in the shotgun to start the next play.
I’m not a coach, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express in Pittsburgh Friday night.

When the old truck is running on fumes, the engine is smoking and knocking, the tires are bald, and the spare is flat, you don't go pedal to the metal. You get the trip done and get home the best way you can without blowing it up.

OL was limited by the injuries in not having backups they could sub. This may have been the reason for lack of second half effectiveness and the slowing down of the offense. Yes, defenses can tire faster due to having to run to the ball more, but OL playing that many plays w/o subs can wear them down too.
