When you look around the country at the SEC and Big 10 stadiums...

we're due for another major overhaul. The WEZ is nice however it's time for more improvements. Most of you will say NO and that what we have is great...is it really though.
Better concourses, better concessions, seatbacks for everyone, another level in the WEZ, more student seating so each student get's a ticket. GN needs to have a vision and execute it before we get even further behind.

I agree. Our bleachers look like they are from the 1960s. Even South Carolina Coots have backs on their seats.

Whatever happened to putting shakers or ‘Tiger Rags’ in EVERY seat? It makes a huge difference. Get some public parking. Improved concessions (hot burgers/dogs and ice cold drinks, rather than room temp food and drinks) would help. I like the setback idea too.

When I was there for the LSU game, the scoreboard speakers were cutting out. Sound system was straight trash.

Overall vibe and amenities was not up to ‘best’ standard by a loooong shot

Exactly. Otherwise, you are going to be looking at a lot of empty seat backs.

I’ve always said it’d look cool if we finished the upper bowl over the WEZ, fill the seats with reinstatement of free student tix for all students and cheaper family friendly seating

The new addition they are working on at Mizzou is awesome looking. We're just falling further and further behind. Sure the new video board and lights are cool but that's not going to cut it.

Agreed but Mizzou only has one sideline upper deck. The initial drawings for the WEZ had about three levels of seats. What happened?

Like most things in the Bowden administration finishing things off was a problem

While I agree that the Death Valley gameday atmosphere isn't near what it was last decade or even in the Bowden years, I'm not sure where we get the money to do upgrades and buy players. Agree with you on more students should have access to tickets. That's just not right that they don't (we're not a huge University).

Two big questions off the bat. One is where would the money come from and two, if you are talking about seatbacks, how many seats would be lost? Dreams, are great but taking dreams to reality is another whole story.

Exactly how would putting a back on the seats cause a loss in the number of seats? I will hang up and listen

Stadium seats are wider

Unless you’re talking about the cheap aluminum backs like you see in high school stadiums, anything else will take up more room. Heck, even the four seats I rent overlap into the seats on either side of me. I like the idea but it would take a lot of reconfiguring.

I’ve brought friends from the West to games and they were surprised to see how dated the stadium is compared to how nice all of the other facilities are.

Lol - you can't tell what other stadiums look like in regards to restrooms and concessions from TV. Ours need improved - but what you can see on TV, Death Valley looks just as good if not better than most.

Oh you can tell on TV. Even freaking Illinois looks great and up to date.
Let's just rest on our laurels and keep everything the same and see where we are in 10 years.

It gives the stadium a more natural feel surrounded by nature and gives it a really “valley” feel. Rather than the soulless monolith structures like Kyle Filed or Sanford stadium

I said this 5 years ago.

The stadium needs updating as far as concessions , restrooms. seating.

If you sit down and think about it, every single move the last 10 years has been anti-fan friendly moves. The mega-tron stinks as far as how loud it is and takes away from fan interaction. Balloons? I know it sounds crazy, but fans actually liked it and no one has given a legitimate reason why they stopped. We have to put up with 5 noon starts a year which makes the money you pay for tailgating spots pointless.

At some point, the fans need to be considered as I’m assuming if they just decide to stay at home it could possibly hurt business.

Crazy I know !

Be careful. Doing"upgrades" takes out seats. We've had over 109,000 inside Neyland before but the liberals listened to the Xbox generation that wanted nice rest rooms, wider concourses, lots of modern concession stands ( yes we have Texas Roadhouse inside stadium) and more skyboxes. Now, best is only 102,000. The more fans the better the atmosphere. I don't go for food or a modern urinal. I go for football.

UT is a fine atmosphere even with the same bleacher seats we have. The concessions and access are far better. Concessions at Clemson are embarrassingly bad in every way-cost, variety, quality, and customer service.

Went to Neyland in early 00’s for a UT/Auburn game when Auburn had all those RB’s, was shocked at what Neyland looked like. I compared it to FSU with the mass aluminum look underneath.

UT needed an upgrade in my opinion

It’s not just Texas Roadhouse …. https://utsports.com/sports/2025/6/16/neyland-stadium-concessions

But the point is- I come for the football not the high end shopping mall concourse feel all these stadiums have now.

To your other point, they made all those nice seats to charge a lot more and make more money - which they did /do. It’s the exact opposite of “liberal” —-the whole idea is to cultivate a customer base of people who will pay twenty grand a ticket a season- those folks will think nothing of swiping the plat Amex at every turn for fresh rib-eye sandwiches and grilled ahi- tuna skewers. That massive influx of additional revenue then pays for a linebacker.
That’s the idea anyway. Does it suck? On so so so many levels …
