When will the Clemson Defense

Stop moving players toward the backfield? Every year we seem very undersized at the linebacker position (except Shuey). One thing I have noticed about great defenses like Bama is that they never move linebackers up to the DE position. IMO Beasley should have never played on the line but at linebacker. He has the ideal skill set and size to be a dominant OLB. Instead we have him playing the DE where he is very undersized against great offensive lines and some great linebackers that could easily play SS. It just erks me to be dominated on the Defensive side of the ball when we have the athletes to compete. We aren't going to scare any offense with linebackers the size and strength of most safeties

Yes Beasley is undersized for DE but in situational plays his speed get the job done. He isn't playing linebacker because he cant cover receivers out of the backfield or off the line.

We moved Beasley from LB to DE

He may have never gotten on the field at LB, but he has made a good impact at DE.

I understand where you are coming from, but just let the coaches coach. Venables has had a lot of great linebackers over time and I'm confident that he knows what he is doing.

Our LB have a hard enough time covering the WRs already so moving Beasley back I don't think we lose a step in that department but we gain dominance in the run, screen passes, and crossing routes which have plagued our LBs this year. His added height will make it very hard for QBs to throw over the middle
