I am not feeling good about him. I never liked the hire. I didn't like his offense at tcu. He has scored a combined ten points in his last two games vs Georgia. What do you think..

Dabo needs to stop meddling with the offense. Let Riley do what he was hired for.

The better question is what offense got installed in the offseason. I don't care who your OC is if you have an offense that doesn't utilize the best players.

Riley call of the plays, but if Dabo designed them all, does that change anything?

I loved the hire when we made it. I just didn't realize it was Sonny Dykes who deserved all the credit for their offensive success.

I think Riley probably does a good job of running a HC’s offense. HC designs the plays and he calls them during the game. That would make sense as to why Dabo was so high on him and if that is his style, I think he could be doing a great job at what he was hired to do.

My thoughts are he’s working with kids who current/previous position coaches improperly evaluated during recruitment, then continually fail to develop.

He reminds me a lot of Rob Spence. Too many plays going sideways, and top defenses eat that up.
I've been wondering if much of TCU's success relied on wideouts breaking tackles 40 -50 yards out and racing for touchdowns in a league of weak defenses. What was his red-zone scoring like? I'm to lazy to look this up, but it could be telling. Think back to early Rich Rod offenses. Great between the 20's but painful I'm the red zone.
Cade may be a great kid, but his play is a problem. Holds the ball too long, and accuracy is an issue. He did make some nice throws against UGA, but as a whole the offense laid an egg.
It concerns me that no other QB on our roster can put pressure on Cade for playing time.
Does Cade hold Riley back? I don't know. I'd like to see the freshmen more this week against App State.

He’s a huge disappointment to me. He is highly compensated and has produced nothing! And the argument that he doesn’t have talented kids to work with doesn’t hold water. Clemson is rated #5 in the county in terms of talent. And that’s not using Dabo’s evaluation of the players. So it appears to me that we aren’t developing the talent we have. The OC has to own that. There is no proof that Dabo is micromanaging him. I say it’s time for a new OC after this year is there isn’t dramatic improvement. Go Tigers!

Think he needs to prove something. I’m thinking Dikes had a bigger hand in that TCU offense than ppl thought it gave him credit for, it all went to Riley. I mean his brother obviously knows how to run an offense like hit big bro up lol He needs a good WR coach tho no one can tell me Grisham is the man. Under his leadership we have went from WRU to WRWHO!!! Go Tigers!!!

I think he's a great offensive coordinator. He has had elite offenses at every school he went to before now. That's not a fluke. And he comes from very good stock as well.
I think Dabo is a terrible offensive coordinator with a stupid playbook and he forces Riley to use it. I also think Dabo has hired a bunch of his buddies as positional coaches so he can be surrounded by an echo chamber of praise. Those positional coaches are entirely underqualified for their positions and so Riley is limited in personnel and in the playbooks, and it's impossible to do anything when your hands are tied.
I also think people like you don't know anything about footal.

and haven't for the last several years. So far, I think it's fair to say that Riley hasn't lived up to expectations. What's unclear is whether that's because he being forced to run "Clemson's" offense rather than being given complete reign to run his offense.
While I think the jury is still out on Riley, I believe Grisham and Spiller are both likely on on very short leashes, and if they're not, they sure should be.

Some of y’all need to go watch the tape and then go look at the tapes under Streeter/Elliott/Scott…
It’s the EXACT same offense we’ve been running since Morris left. This is the “Clemson offense”. That’s out of Dabos own mouth.
This is not Riley’s true Air Raid offense that he knows inside and out. That’s what some of you are not understanding or either refuse to admit.
Riley is calling the plays but he’s calling the plays in Dabos offense. The same offense we’ve been running for over a decade.
Basically Dabo buys the groceries and gives Riley the directions to the recipe and wants Riley to turn chicken s*it into chicken salad.
Riley is a disciple of the true Air Raid system and this isn’t even close to that. Our offense we run now and the true Air Raid Riley knows are 2 completely different philosophies.
My question is… did Riley agree to this when he was hired? If he agreed to run the Clemson and not his own… then yes he deserves the blame.
But if Dabo or whoever led him to believe that he would be installing parts and tweaks of his own Air Raid system but then when he signed the contract was told you’re calling the plays but you’re going to be running the “Clemson offense” then Riley was duped.
I honestly don’t know the answer to either. But I do know for 100% fact this is NOT the true Air Raid Riley ran before he got here. The concepts and philosophies are completely different.

Where did I say he ran it at TCU? He’s been an OC long before TCU.
The year TCU got to the title game… they weren’t running a true Air Raid. They were running a HUNH Spread offense with Air Raid concepts meshed into the offense.
At TCU he ran a ton of Zone Read and inside zone and counter traps. Those are concepts of the HUNH Spread.
But if rewatch some of those game tapes… you can see Air Raid concepts built into Spread philosophies. TCU lined up in 5 wide or 4 Wide with Trips or Twins to each side a lot. Those are Air Raid concepts.
Compare it to our offense on tape and we almost never see 5 wide and when we do… we all know it’s QB draw or QB Power or QB sweep. Again… Air Raid formation but not Air Raid concepts. That’s Dabo all day bc he loved to run the QB bc the tailback becomes an extra blocker which gives us the #s advantage in the box.
Everyone has learned that about us and the defenses are reading their keys and know to stack the box when they see us in 5 wide.
Air Raid formations and concepts are almost non existent in any of our offense.

Like this question but don’t really have an opinion. I’m struggling to see what is similar about the offense he ran at TCU with what we’ve run since he’s been here. I am baffled by our offense in general. Don’t understand how it can be so consistently bad. Don’t know what to make of Riley’s ability to develop players, his scheme, in-game play calling, etc. We look mostly the same on offense as we have since Trevor Lawrence left. Genuinely not sure how much of that is Riley’s doing. Some of it, sure. He wasn’t there for the DJ years so can’t really pin any of that foundational ineptitude on him. I was expecting big changes in the offense and have not seen it.

Riley was successful at every team he was offensive coordinator for prior to Clemson. But…he was working with Sonny Dykes at all of those teams. TCU’s offense has remained strong after Riley left, while he hasn’t been able to generate any improvement at Clemson. I had that concern when he was hired that, because he hadn’t produced WITHOUT Dykes, he might not be the play caller we thought he was. It seems that’s true
