Again, the proof is literally right there for anyone

NCAA, SACSCOC, ACC, etc. These are all "governing" bodies, so part of their role is to step in and hand out appropriate discipline when brought to light. It is not their job, to my knowledge, to investigate for infractions, but is entirely their role to react to evidence of infractions in order to keep competitive balance. They've done the absolute minimum.

As you perhaps have learned this morning, the NCAA has decided to reopen their investigation of our baby blue friends in Orange County. This will not be over for several more years but it looks like justice may be served. Sorry Heels, it ain't going away!

what's up with your UNC obsession?

jealousy? just hate? didn't get accepted? girl from there break your heart?
you asked "what do you think?" i think you have some really silly ideas (and some bizarre compulsion to make them public) and this one might be the most fatuous.
no matter what happens with the athletic/academic scandal from this point on - and it clearly isn't over (and won't be any time soon) UNC-Chapel Hill will still be considered a great school.
please don't think i'm defending the acts that created the scandal. there were some major F - ups. some punishment has already been meted out and heads have rolled: teachers, coaches, advisers, tutors, the AD, the Chancellor...
but i will defend my alma mater.
most objective observers know just how limited in scope the scandal is: pretty much one department and just a hand full of people (not counting athletes)
and even if the NCAA levies more punishments, until the numbers/lists below reflect something different, the national academic reputation of UNC-Chapel Hill remains intact, even if a little tainted
here's some numbers for you:

Don't know about this guy's obsession - but I've lived in NC

for 30 years now after graduating from Clemson.
I've heard "Everybody knows Clemson cheats" from enough Carolina fans over the years as they told me "Carolina doesn't need to cheat - that's not the Carolina Way" that I am LOVING every second of this.
It is classic that your alma mater has gone to great lengths to prove that they weren't giving free A's to athletes only - they were giving them to everyone!

The smug attitude
Jul 1, 2014, 2:32 PM

That's all that needs to be said...period. Why are so many fans from other schools relishing in this so much on their fan forums? Seriously, its not just NCSU's Packpride or Duke, if they have one. Even the USuCk fans are taking shots. UNC has the most smug, arrogant, condescending fans and that's why everyone is enjoying this so much. Period. Seriously, look at this tarheel guys first sentence...jealousy? Didn't get in? Look at all the links below, we are better.

you don't want your degree to cease to be worth the paper it's printed on.
Many of us hate UNC for several reasons.
Because the fans and alumni are smug and pretend their school is above any sort of impropriety.
Because John Swofford does everything he can to pave UNC's way to athletic success through actions such as keeping conference championship games as close to Chapel Hill as possible to give them a home-field advantage.
Because UNC administrators were a big part of the additional sanctions put on Clemson's football program following the 1981 season.
Because Dean Smith tried to ruin basketball for everybody with the four corners offense.
Those are just a few.

should be a 'but' not 'buy' for that last rhetorical question.
found several references to Larry Williams asking Danny Ford about Swofford and the probation and Ford saying it wasn't Swofford. but the podcast
http://www.accsports.com/articles/accsportscom-podcast-the-danny-ford-years-at-clemson
doesn't seem to be available... note how the summary refers to it:
"13:48 - They discuss the John Swofford/Clemson probation urban legend

Here's what we know:
Swoffy played football at UNC and was the AD at UNC. Cheating has existed at UNC, apparently lots of it, this much we know, what we don't know is to what extent and for how long. But yet the school has some name for the way they didn't cheat (Carolina Way?) I cant think of any other school that strutted around and promoted not cheating and being holier than thou more than UNC.
When someone tells me just out of the blue, before I have any reason to suspect any wrong doing, " I don't cheat" or "I don't steal" or "I'm really honest" that's usually a red flag, maybe that's just me.
Swoffy was the AD at UNC. There's a picture of Swoffy - I'm not gonna waste time looking for it but I promise its out there - with this sh*t eating grin on his face walking out of the UNC-NCAA meeting (you know, the one that was apparently such a sham that the NCAA is back to fix their mistakes from) and every month there's a new story about more UNC corruption and more grand standing and hiding and sweeping under the rug and NEPOTISM.
Given what we know, its reasonable to assume Swoffy may not be a good fit for the job of creating competitive balance in the tobacco road conference.
Also, Raycom sucks so apparently his son is a hack too. Watch a Raycom game on "HD" and really pay attention to Mike Hogwood and the serious knowledge he is dropping and then you will see where nepotism gets you.

sadly we might as well assume some UNC grad owns some camera business and doesn't know what hes doing but the ACC / Raycom signed on to a 20 yr contract and he's out playing golf while we watch basically a home video with an "HD" at the bottom right corner.

i asked about evidence of Swofford/UNC and the extra year of Clemson probation back in the 80's - which many folks here cite as a source of their hatred for Swofford and/or UNC

just UNC administrators. I'd expect better reading comprehension from a graduate of the esteemed University of North Carolina.

"either/or" is how most interpret that forward slash construction
so, who do you claim was involved? who were the 'administrators?' got any evidence? seriously, i've looked and looked and can't find anything
even Tigernet calls it a 'legend'

At very least UNC's faculty athletic rep at the time
Jul 2, 2014, 12:01 PM
|
|
was one of the 5 member athletic reps who voted to extend the probation. That vote is reason enough to hate UNC, NC State, Duke, Virginia, and Georgia Tech.
The idea that the idea was brought up by either Swofford or a UNC representative is speculation at this point because those documents are sealed (and at Swofford's discretion to release), but it seems likely since our national championship run ruined a potential championship run for the Tarheels the year prior to the sanctions.

"speculation" ... pretty much says it all.
thanks for being honest enough to admit it.
and that's all i've been able to find; bald speculation and baseless assumptions.
i will grant you a pass (on at least a somewhat rational* basis) on putting the hate on all 5 voters - that's not totally unreasonable
* when you really think about it, just how rational is any sports love/hate?

My obsession is to hate those who lie, cheat and steal. As a graduate of VMI and UVA Grad school, all who have single sanction honor systems, the egregious behavior of UNCheat makes me nauseous. The Carolina Way has been exposed and the recent news just validates what I have long suspected.
