What was wrong with Mukuba?

Nov 27, 2022, 9:16 PM

He got beat on 4th down conversion for a TD right in front of me. Then allowed another 4th down conversion that set up another super short TD. Then was burnt like toast on the long pass for a TD...coaches pulled him for a long stretch in 3Q-4Q. He had been pretty darn good all season. Did he skip a b'fast or party late the nite before? I kid, but man, what a day to pick for his worst performance of the season. Really like him but so disappointed.

You got a safety playing cornerback. His instincts are of a safety. The coaching staff has moved him out of his natural position to fill holes. Unfortunately it hasn’t worked. They are not doing the kid any favors with this move.

That had to be what the fighting was about. I get it, games are emotional and intense. Kids jaw at each other but I have to wonder if there's some reality to it. The reporter said coaches, not players had to break it up.

Just not sure why we didn't drop back and have more help on the backend. On TV you really can't tell. Nobody was listed as out. The target happened after scar did most of the damage...right. just seems like we could have made some adjustments since it was essentially what wake did to us. They weren't running on us.

Our pass defense has been surviving all year because of our blitzes and South Carolina did a pretty good of blocking. I just hope we will get the issues fixed by Saturday.

We were getting to Rattler... a lot but he's very athletic and elusive and was able to avoid sacks. Add the fact that he kept looking for and finding open receivers; something he wasn't doing earlier in the season.

On the 4th and 1…the coaches needed to call a TO…

It was obvious that SC was not going to line up and try to run it again.
It was play action all the way.
In the first half, sometimes using a timeout (instead of not using them) can help your defense be prepared or maybe Beamer would have reconsidered after the timeout.
I understood keeping timeouts in the 2nd half…but not in the first.
It seemed like a crucial juncture in the game…but we don’t seem to use timeouts unless it’s at the end of a half.
Happened in Notre Dame too…was a 7-0 game and a defensive timeout could have been helpful before it got to 14.
So it’s not all about Makuba.

Coaching, schemes, maybe playing the wrong position. He is fine. Wes Goodwin is a mess.

They are obsessed with making him play CB

Nov 28, 2022, 7:31 AM

when he’s a natural Safety. I questioned what they heck they were doing with him at weigh-in when he came in at 180lbs. He had a lights out Freshman year in playing SS and we just decided to convert him yo a hybrid nickel CB. Stupid is as stupid does.

Secondary has been terrible all year. Not sure if due to how poor the d lane actually played (no pressure) or just bad players. Reminder that furman threw for like 270 yards on us. Furman.

He’s playing out of position and they are killing his draft stock, went from freshman all American to lost

His body won’t support him being an every down

NFL Safety. His best path to the league is nickel/CB and versatility. We are weaker at CB than safety. Mickens and Phillips are our best 2 DBs period- they should be our starting safeties. Wiggins is the most physically talented corner so you try to get Mukuba to play the other corner which is the weakest spot and he’s best available of the rest. The thing that frustrates me is that we have some really talented FR that got some forced experience due to injuries but our development like always seems slow. If you are a team like Clemson that often loses guys after 3 years, you can’t spend a year training them to play in the future. Stop babying them and put them on the field- live with results but you’ll find they’ll grow up faster
