--don't say mma as that is a different sport.

I was a big fan for decades.
These days few can name champions in the weight classes.

I think it is mostly because it left tv and went PPV. That was good in the day for huge events, then it became the "norm".
Now folks don't get to see the up and coming, just have to shell out to see the champs.

I boxed at Clemson in the Johnstone store rooms. A student (John Wall) from Spartanburg had had a couple pro fights. He needed to train and so his friends were there for him to beat on. The deal was we would hit him, and he would take it easy on us. I always had a busted lip or a swollen ear.

Where's Don King when you need him? He could promote a fight but at 93 it may be too much for him these days. Maybe over 2600 people in the promotion business has watered it down too much.
