What the ACC should do now.

I have no idea what is going on behind the scenes. I'm just making this post as a fan who is clueless as to the inner workings of college football.

But, here is what I think should happen.

The ADs of each school, and maybe the presidents, should call a meeting ASAP. They should discuss the following plan:
1. Ask for a meeting with the conference commissioners from the SEC, B1G and Big 12.
2. Hammer out an agreement whereby those three conferences agree to take schools from those conferences.

Hopefully, this would mean every school would end up in one of those conferences. But, that would not be likely. If only 10 (or whatever number) schools could get an invitation, so be it.

3. Vote to dissolve the conference.

Now, what I think is a real possibility is that the SEC and B1G will say, "We don't need anybody else. We control the national championship now. The CFP has nothing to do with the NCAA. We can set the committee up so that only teams from our two conferences are eligible. Take a hike."

There is no telling what is going to happen but if they told all of the other schools and conferences to take a hike, I think of all of the fans that will drop off the CFB wagon. Meaning viewership will drop and people will stop going to games, merchandise sales will drop. Think of all of the dollars that will be lost. Does ESPN and others in the media world that control $’s care if that happens? Maybe they don’t but my guess is that in the end it does matter. Just follow the money and it will usually lead you to the answer. Just what my old 65 year old mind thinks.
