Being (achieving) old age is not a bad thing.
Many hope for that and fall short.
Old age may be less about "how many years" more as to how many "good years".
Lucky folks get older.

Ranking low on Asperger's scale (Mom had me tested) I see it more as to math.
I have kept a daily fitness diary from the age of 40 (burned in the fire).
Having no family, no life, keyed in on fitness as those folks like to work hard and then drink beer.
I recorded it every day, now Garmin watch does that for me.
I completely understand the differences in me at 79 and at 49.
I have many elderly friends who have done all the right things (unlike me) and they too are ~~
No amount of ### will keep one from aging/slowing down.
The deal is to embrace that and have some fun with where you are in life.

That is probably just the difference between generations. My kids call people my age Mr. or Miss followed by their name. Most kids their age don’t. My son would say yes sir to you. Every time. For some reason my daughter doesn’t as much. Not sure why because she was definitely raised to say yes sir and yes ma’am. Neither of the grandkids say yes sir or yes ma’am.

Nothing makes me feel old more than the aches and pains of my body. Things hurt now that most of us didn't realize we had until we got past 60...

Interesting thing was a friend went for his annual physical on his 50th birthday, the doctor shook his hand and offered congratulations. My buddy was perplexed, the doctor told him that he would be surprised at the amount of people who do not.
I have made 66 orbits around the sun, I still lift every other day and in between do 5-6 miles on the elliptical. There are days you feel great and days you feel every injury from long ago.
Even the hurting days beats the alternative , I like to say any day you wake up above ground is a good day.
Told the wife this was the last year I was gonna spread 20 cubic yards of mulch, that made me feel old.

What really got me thinking about being old was my mom passing 10/23. Figured she would outlive us all.

Yep; my mom was nearly 103 when she died - always healthy and took care of herself. I'm running on 95 octane.

I will disagree bc anybody that can play 27 holes with the little dimple ball in a day, a backache should be expected even from a 21 year old. Try again Pig bc you won't get a sympathy card with that answer!!!!

I guess recently it would be the surgeries. Probably no more than 3 or 4 surgeries in my lifetime, but now at 58 yrs old , I've had 4 surgeries in the last year. I don't feel bad or any different, it's just having to go through the repair jobs.
Similar to a 200K truck engine repair , it still runs good before and after. But the repairs are required to keep it running good....lol, if that makes any sense...

It’s gotta be watching my family expand exponentially. Those babies having babies and giving me titles I honestly never thought I’d have.
Seeing Hollywood people that were kids yesterday become older men and women doesn’t help either. Seeing Harrison Ford as an old man is another.
Music. Man. I’ve always loved music. Play a few instruments. I always kept up with what was new and cool. Most of the new stuff is garbage nowadays. I find myself listening to older music. It’s rare I find a new band and like their stuff.
Getting out of bed. All my joints hurt. Knees make some crazy noises. How I feel after running about 21 miles a week too. Tired and sore.
Getting mad about smelling weed everywhere I go. It reminds me that the majority of these youngin’s are driving impaired. Todays weed isn’t the weak stuff going around in the 70’s and 80’s. This stuff is genetically engineered and has more THC in a gram than most entire plants had back in the day.
There’s so much that reminds me every day that I’m getting old!
As tugalooriver® says, it’s an honor to achieve old age.

That one was long past due when it finally happened. I was a smoker when that happened, but I hated being in a confined space when someone was smoking bc I could feel myself breathing someone's used air and it would cause me to feel like I was choking if I didn't get out of there or as far away as possible. I have always wondered if situations like that ever cause other people to feel as if they were choking from secondhand smoke in a close environment?
I thank God for the willpower bc I haven't smoked a cig, pipe, or cigar in over 21 years, Amen!!!

Most of the time I don’t feel old. When I injure myself like I did to my arm clearing trees after the hurricane and it takes so much longer to heal will do it. I’ve been dealing with sciatica and an arthritic hip for several years and that’s starting to get old. Certainly makes me understand and observe limitations more than I used to. I can still walk 18 holes of golf 2-3 days most weeks and can still climb into a tree stand so no complaints.
