Everyone says “I wouldn’t want to follow Saban”. What will Alabama’s record be this year and will DeBoer be Alabama’s coach in 5 years?

I personally think he will do ok. Bama is still Bama, so I bet they still bring in top classes with splashes of transfers here and there to fill gaps!

Georgia (home), Tennessee, LSU and Oklahoma (away) on the schedule are possible losses. They should win the rest (with Saban’s recruits). My guess is 10-2 (with a loss to UGA in the SECCG).
I don’t think DeBoer will have the same success recruiting that Saban had, but time will tell, eh?

10-2 sounds right but not sure they will make it to the SEC championship game. Lets not forget about the team Texas has coming back. It will be Texas vs Georgia in that game.

I think he will do fine but he is already having to see how he does at replacing asst coaches after losing his longtime OC.

Business as usual. He (DeBoer) has had immediate success at every stop. The cupboard isn’t empty at Bammer. He had an armory cupboard at Warshington and had them in the Natty quickly. I hope I’m wrong, though.

I think he will be fired by the end of year 2.
He is in a tough situation. After his fall they might come after Dabo if Clemson is a playoff team.
If he loses 2 or more games this year it will get very uncomfortable for him. It could unravel really quickly going into year 2.

It would be almost hard to fail at Alabama nowadays.
All that being said, they will still be holding UGA's jockstrap for the foreseeable future.

If I were Dabo I wouldn't go there after how they acted over one their own during this past search. I would have the last laugh if they called me after this failure. Of course the narrative over Dabo avoiding the portal didn't help his case.

Nick Saban didn’t build that program out of toothpicks. It’s going to be hard to have a good assessment of him until around Year 3, when we know how his recruiting is. I do think they will be strong on offense based on who’s on the roster. I think something like 10-2 would be good

I look for Alabama to slip quite a bit over the 5 years. I don't expect them to be top 15 this year.

Not just initially. Permanently
Saban worked 18 and he's Saban
My guess is , he'll do OK ( 9 -10 wins Ann. )
But , that's not good enough for PF and fans who are unrealistic.
That's why you don't follow Saban
