I have a framed pair of Danny Ford's underwear from the 81 championship game. Don't ask me what I had to do to get those.

I have an old purple and orange penent that says Clemson A&M College. At least I think that's what it says, I don't have it infront of me right now. I talked about it on here once before and several collector types told me it was from the 1950s.

For many years I said if we ever won another national championship, I would celebrate by drinking my 1981 Cokes.
I have to admit, in January 2017…I broke my promise. Lol Chose some fresh beer instead.

You are Jim Phillips son? WOW that is so cool. Your dad is one of my ringtones on my phone. Willie Underwood 4th quarter interception return for td Nov 22 1980 Clemson-Carolina. I grew up listening to him and still love hearing his old calls.

firing the cannon....Still my favorite memory is hearing your Dad go silent when Dwight caught that pass over the middle and took it to the house at Maryland. Youngsters today have NO IDEA about how we hung on every word Jim said, getting a picture of what was happening. But that one was priceless. As I rememeber it is was Jim saying, "Fuller over the middle to Dwight......"................".........."....and the extra pount is good!".........
But I think the best call he ever made was,"First down, touchdown, TIGERS WIN!!"

I had the opportunity (and it may still be there) to get a seat from Littlejohn that was removed during the renovation. I passed because the thing must weigh about 75 pounds and I just didn’t have room in the downsized bonus room. It was seat number 2 in whatever row it was removed from.

I posted some stuff from it years ago on here. There is a pic of the 1903 football team including Heisman.
This was a few years before it became Taps, and was called The Oconeean. I think this was the name in 03 and 04. It became Taps in 1908.
Some cool pics in there and several fun reads, including “A History of Clemson Football.”

I have an old orange vinyl record in the shape of a TigerPaw that has songs about the 1981 championship football season. I bought it from Knickerbocker's about a week after the Championship game with Nebraska. I've got it on the wall along with the Sport's Illustrated magazines from our national championship seasons. Go Tigers!!! Beat GT!!!

This is unique because I made it…. Using my actual 2016 (uncut) season, semi-final, and final tickets. Not sure if anyone else paid for the electronic version to keep that in tact just in case this was the year. It was the year. Go Tigers!

Two small chips off of Howards Rock...

Nov 9, 2023, 4:14 PM

|
Went into the CUAD facilities shop one days years ago and they were trying to break Howards Rock free from the old gray concrete base it used to sit on so that they could mount it on the black pedestal it sits on today. These little chips were coming off of the rock and I reached down and grabbed a couple and asked if I could have them. Sure they said. Of course, no way to prove they came from there, but they did.

My Dad pulled some strings and got me an authentic football helmet -- circa 1975. It looks like it belonged to a lineman, and the name "Mitchell" and the number "153" are written in black magic marker inside the left earhole. I also acquired a chinstrap that I am 99 percent sure I got from Jimmy Ness, a defensive back, after a game in 1974.

old tailgate napkin signed by Fridge as a freshman (wearing corduroy jacket and matching fedora in my memory, girlfriend on his arm as he had a post-game meal at friend's family tailgate)
old tiger rag signed by Dwight Clark and Jim Stuckey during NFL strike (1982?)
also the now empty corroded Orange Crush soda cans after 1981 (maybe one of the dozen or so still survives - know 6 were stil in the carboard six-pack carrier)
Pepsi bottle from 1974
Lots of old programs with player signatures from late 70s early 80s and old Charlotte Observer sports pages after big victories during same time Lots of "TIGERS" SI and other mags after recent titles (ticket stubs and items from Tampa as well)
Old Clemson white ceramic beer mugs from 1960
Cool, now faded Pud Lane (Snap Crackle Pop/Nestle Quik Rabbit fame) cartoon print of a "full" Tiger, legs spread around empty bowl (labeled "Orange Bowl"), tossing away the consumed corn shuck with "22-15" printed on it w right paw, rubbing full belly with left - leaning against a big #1 - licking lips saying "Ahhh Delicious" - INDEED

The athletic department had a yard sale type event that I went to when I lived close to Clemson. I bought five pair of orange britches that were worn in the 1981 natty in the orange bowl for 20 bucks per pair. The guy selling them said they were worn in the 81 natty. I hope he was telling the truth. When I got home I noticed players names written on the inner back of the waist band and the pants were identical to those worn by Perry Tuttle on the cover of the SI magazine when Clemson won the natty in 1981.

I have a very old commemorative ceramic Tiger decanter of Old Crow bourbon

The seal was never broken, but the cork rotted in my garage and the bourbon evaporated. It was my wife’s grandparents’ bottle from the 30’s or 40’s I believe. He didn’t drink, so it was still sealed and full when I retrieved it from his basement in 1980. My wife’s grandfather and Red Ritchie and Joe (can’t remember last name right now) were the 3 original charter volunteers pounding the pavement for IPTAY almost 100 years ago. He was Clemson’s volunteer tennis coach for decades and did it without pay. He did get very good football tickets.

I have the actual face mask guard from the Perry Tuttle's helmet in the SPORTS ILLUSTRATED cover picture. How I got it is a long story of being in the right place at the right time. May tell it one day. Also have a Clemson A&M college pennate from early 40's A small ceramic Clemson Tiger that my dad brought home to his mother from his first year a Clemson ( 1939) My Dad's 1942 TAPS A copy of famous 1981 sports illustrated sighned by Perry Tuttle. A various collection of Clemson coke and pepsi bottles from 1974 until recent. A picture of my great grandad rabbit hunting in early 1900's in an area where the practice field is now next to the old Seneca River bed. A picture of Memorial Stadium of what is now the student section a few days before the first game was ever played there ( made by my mother who lived with her parents on the campus). I have more stuff but can't remember it all right now. You asked how did I accumulate such a collection? I am the 4th of 6 generations of Clemson men.

Mentioned this before, have a pennant that is more yellow and purple with interlocking letters, C,A,C on the broad side. Anyone have any idea how old this pennant is?

I come across various old Clemson items in antique stores and it got me wondering what responses we'll see.
