Neat.
Glenmorangie is great for the money.
And to the Scotch haters about to chime in: Bourbon is a good mixer, but otherwise it's trash.

J&B for my money. But why can't we enjoy both? Why's it got to be one against the other? Scotch is the drink, I think, but bourbon was a first love.

Liquor or beer snobs.
If you like PBR over a microbrew, fine. If you prefer Captains spiced rum to Papa Pilar..fine. If you prefer Jack Daniels to Jira..that's fine too. We don't do the snobbery thing with other beverages.."Pepsi rules. Royal Crown is trash!"

I am a beer snob's nightmare. My beer fridge is always stocked with PBR, Miller High Life, Hamm's, Narragansett, Old Milwaukee, Coors Banquet, etc. I like what I like.

To me, aging makes all the difference. The older the smoother and unfortunately, the more expensive. I’ve had a few of 15 years or older and they’re all good. The 23 year old Scotch I had was positively great.
I still prefer Irish Whiskey and it’s the same rules. I like neat. I’ll pay for what I like and if I’ve payed for it, I want to taste it…….so neat.

Balvenie is nice, for the dollar. Glenlivet and Macallan 12 years are respectble, as well. However...bourbon is king! Grab some Buffalo Trace!

That’s as much a type of scotch as whiskey. Sure, it’s regional and basically the same. But, the peat makes a huge difference. I prefer bourbon as well but Woodford tastes like swill to me. I’d drink Benchmark before Woodford. Which is actually pretty good. It’s Eagle Rare without the 10 years of aging. Exact same mash bill. I feel Woodford makes their price high just to feel like it belongs in the medium range bourbons. Much cheaper Eagle Rare and Buffalo Trace are so much better and treated like top shelf. On that note, I haven’t found a top shelf bourbon worth the high dollar pour. Colonel EH Taylor is another great priced bourbon that makes Woodford taste like two day old wild Turkey.

is maybe the best thing for the dollar. It's crazy to me that you can get 125 Proof Buffalo Trace product for under $25.
Even if 125 proof is a touch hot for you, you can pour it over a big rock and it's amazing.
If you like Buffalo Trace products, the closest thing I've found that I'm really digging is Bardstown Origin Series White Label. $45. Great sipper.

One giant ice cube. Johnnie Walker Blue or Macallan 18 year. Mostly stick to bottles around $80-100. I splurge on the good stuff around my birthday.
Day-to-day drink is Sazerac Rye. I also switch between Eagle Rare, Buffalo Trace, and Blanton’s. Well, not daily but two to three days a week.

I hope you like the taste of creosote! There’s still a partial bottle languishing in my cabinet. Not judging - tastes are supremely subjective. I could *possibly* see the heavily peated stuff growing on me if I made an effort, but lightly peated seems about right to me.
Cheers, and Go Tigers!

when it is available. I've had the 21-25 year old and it was all less than $95 a bottle. They had a 16 year old this year that was around $75 I think. It was very good, but I think the 22 year old was the best. Since I don't normally drink scotch one bottle last me a long time. I do share it with good friends though.

I discovered it in Scotland in the Turnberry Bar, summer of 2000. Asked the bartender to serve me something i wouldn’t normally find. Really liked it. So much that i bought a bottle to bring home only to discover that it was readily available here and reasonably priced. So much for being something you wouldn’t normally find!
