that we are use to at Clemson? With WG being released, what do we hope to see a new DC bring to the team that has been missing since BV left?

I like Buddy Ryan’s philosophy, “A quarterback has never completed a pass when he was flat on his back. We must hit the quarterback hard and often. QB’s are over-paid, over-rated, pompous ######## and must be punished. Great pass coverage is a direct result of a great pass rush, and a great pass rush is simply a relentless desire to get to the QB.”

Being physical and energetic. Enjoying stonewalling an offense wrap up tackling - stop with the dive throw a shoulder hits. WRAP UP.

A coach that can out-recruit 80% of the schools we go up against. We have some talent, but not like we used to. We need to pick it back up and get some dudes like we used to on the line.
A coach that brings a fire, intensity and confidence the way BV used to. (I think this was the biggest missing ingredient). Wes knew the X's and O's, but didn't inspire confidence.
A coach that is calculating, but more aggressive with Blitzes and Pressures. Wes played way too much zone. Our Tackles for Loss and Sack numbers went down the last 3 years.

BV but played a soft defense 50% of the time. I don’t think he knew what he was doing on game days. He might be able to break down film and prep a game day coach to get him ready but I don’t think he can actually call the game.

The talent is there-Dabo believes that(already said so). Defensive philosophy has to change to a much more aggressive posture. Read and react is a losing method because it dilutes the innate and natural attacking essence of an effective defensive mentality. It's more risky but always more productive to attack. Football is an aggressive game- particularly the defensive side. More blitzes and more movement forward. Also, physical practicing is a must. If you are in great condition, you are LESS likely to be injured. Pick a good one Dabo!

I want to see a screaming, foaming at the mouth D Coordinator who loses his #### on bad calls and bad plays and makes our D want to rip the opposing players heads off and #### down their neck on every single play

We need a coach that teach. One that demands the players know the plays and studies the film.
A coach that had the intensity of BV. 💯 Confidence in every aspect of the game and gives more than the players. That intensity and confidence comes across to recruits who want to be taught and developed by a coach who is 💯 in the game.
In short, clone BV. WES NEVER showed that intensity.

We aren't as deep talent wise.
That's one major difference between the recent teams and the BV teams.
We probably have some starters on defense that wouldn't have started on those teams.

The staff needs to help bring the Dude out of some of our defensive talent on Saturdays. It only takes a few nasties to infect the rest. We've looked a little too method and less hungry lately - let some personalities free to turn it up a notch.

ask me to sell medical devices, and I am your man, but this is a shot in the dark...
What I saw was poor fundamentals. Tackling, bad eyes, bad angles.
Combine that with a defense that was not very aggressive in their play calling, and you get what we got.
So, in my opinion, clean that stuff up, and we will be much better. The talent is there.
