What exactly is an Aggie?

I am not stupid. Of course I realize it's a bull with those crazy horns etc, because I have seen it on tv at their games on Sportscenter, but why is it called an Aggie?

I meant to give you a thimbs up. I will get you back on some of ykur other posts. I apologize. Youre saying Aggie is a twist on Agnes. Is the bull named Agnes/Aggie? I don't know much about A&M since they are just coming on the scene without much history.

The other name for the bull with the crazy horns is "Longhorns". I spent a LOT of time on the phone with a Longhorns fan getting Charter converted to Spectrum so we could get ACCN. He mentioned quite a few differences and some serious competition between the Aggies and the Longhorns.

I am pretty sure Aggie is the bull and is Texas A&M's mascot.

When I attended Clemson in '63, it was called Clemson College but it changed to C.U. within A Year. It was all military A short time before that and R.O.T.C. was mandatory for the first two years for Me in '63 with A two hour drill on Thursday afternoon for Air Force and Army with the Army carrying M1's. and One had better be shaven or You got dry-shaved. The Good Old Days. Discipline!!

It is internet slang speach, like n00b, pwned, tl;dr, 31-0hioSt, uof5c or sirius kwestion
Aggie is slang for "aggghhhh" as the common phrase uttled by atm people for losing that critical few games and finishing the season a perfectly consistent 8-5.
So an aggie or aggggghhhhhie is someone who voices frustration for being only slightly above average, but also completely unremarkable. Kinda like being a 12th man or something. You ain't a starter nor even playing, but are in the room.

Texas Aggies refers to the students, graduates, and sports teams of Texas A&M University. The nickname "Aggie" was once common at land-grant or "ag" (agriculture) schools in many states. The teams are also referred to as "A&M" or "Texas Aggies."

If they are an "Ag" school which I can only assume means silver, then why is it agriculture?
Considering they have an Urban Planning program, that is the antithesis of agriculture.

The term "Aggie" comes from the periodic chart of elements "AG + GE". A lot of Germanic people settled in Texas around the area of New Braunfels and Fredericksburg, TX. When, in the 1800s, they decided there was a need for higher education, the scraped together all the sliver they had and viola... established A&M.
True story brah...
