Also Beamer exaggerated the whole thing at presser. Bielema was already on the other side toward the Coots sideline checking on his player. When the player was up and headed back, Bielema jestured the sideline, not Beamer.

Beamer would like everyone to focus on this one thing rather than the fact that the gamecocks lost to a much lower ranked team that they were supposed to beat by two td’s! This is exactly why he’s exaggerating the whole situation and hoping people will overlook his childish temper tantrum. In my 78 years, I have NEVER seen a coach act like Beamer did!

.... I can see where Beamer might have a point.

Not about his demeanor on the sideline when Bielema was upset. The proper response should have been to laugh at Bielema and maybe hold up the rule book and point to it. Instead of him pulling a Karen-esque response it should have been more of Patton-like ("I read your book!")

But, it appears as far as the play went, Beamer took advantage of a legal play (like Dan Lanning did early in the year against Ohio State).

I was certainly under the impression that a guy holding his arms out to his side parallel to the ground was a signal for "no return." Beamer says he checked with the refs before the game and asked them about it and told them they were going to do it and got the OK from the officials.

I have no doubt the rule will be changed next year. It might even be changed today.
