Was anyone else surprised to hear him say in public we aren’t good enough to win a NC? If I’m a player of his I’m probably sitting there thinking, “well, that isn’t what you’ve been telling us all year.”
That just seems like another one of those things that should have stayed in the locker room, especially knowing in recruiting our competitors will pick up on every little nuance to use against us.

No. Truth hurts sometimes.
If they were told they were good enough, it’s only because he knew their potential. Some of them did not play to their potential, AND certain coaches did not coach to their potential either.

Doesn’t matter if it’s private or public. Truth is truth and sometimes it hurts. Dabo admitting the the team wasn’t prepared/good enough to win is a direct reflection of not only his players/coaches but himself as well.
It isn’t an attack on anybody. It’s just an admission of truth.

Sometimes giving your firm opinion on things makes it much more difficult to make changes when needed. No need to paint yourself into a corner when it’s not necessary

Between Riley admitting he’d been letting off the gas and Dabos postgame comments about us not being good enough to win it all I’m proud of Dabo and Riley for having the courage to admit what’s clear to the most basic fan. Now I hope Dabo has the wisdom to do what’s necessary to go fix it

But I took that more as.. "we won the ACC title and were good enough for that but clearly not good enough to win the national title . Bc we obviously just lost to Texas." We lost the game so it's a parent. We weren't good enough to win the national title or we would have won that game
... But not that he didn't think that we could win it, .
It's also kind of a big leap or jump to conclusion for the office space fans out there, to insinuate that the players feel betrayed in their coach has lied to them all year telling them they are better than they really are. In a way that's kind of the whole point of motivation and getting the most out of people in all walks of life... But it's a little bit stupid to think that dabo got up in the press conference yesterday and said you know what guys. We were never good enough to win the national title and I've been lying to you all along.... I mean it just doesn't make any sense whatsoever and it's not true.
We need to get better as a team and dabo knows that and he gets paid to do it. We are just fans consuming this as entertainment so let's stop putting our self-worth in wins and losses. We don't get paid crap for it and we all spend lots of money to support it.
