We've been solved
Sep 11, 2016, 6:36 PM
|
|
Year 2 OC's honeymoon is over and all the tape's out. Teams have our number now:
"Clemson has abandoned jet sweeps. Load the box on them and challenge their receivers man to man. Spy the QB. Make them go perimeter passing, their tendency. They won't use the middle of the field much. Make them throw long. Their receivers aren't making plays consistently, and QB isn't making the long throws either."
Pretty much what we've seen.
As for circling dates? Too many of us bought into the clippings, along with the team. "Circle the FSU and Louisville games." Well, guess what. It's time to circle the Tec game, because they're going to run the same defense, and they will ball-control the clock too. Our season has come down to "one game at a time, the very next one."
Clemson needs to dig down and solve it, or trouble is on the way.

I think Troy also found inventive ways to bring our more athletic receivers down.

No, no we have not "been solved".
We need our receivers to catch the #### FB. Here are the facts:
- Cain drops a sure TD in the EZ - Williams drops a sure TD in the EZ - Thompson drops a pass at the 30 yd line when he was 4 yards behind the DB that would have been a TD - Just for good measure. Ray Ray puts the ball on the ground as he was going into the EZ
That is without a question 28 points that we absolutely should have had.
30 + 28 = 58 Tigers, 24 Troy.
Those drops won't continue like that and when they stop happening, then I think that we are having a different discussion.

Deshaun also over there Mike on two deep balls that would have been TDs in drives that ended in punts. We clean this stuff up we'll be fine.

I haven't dug into the details of the drives like you, so I don't know if this is true or not But I read your comments as if we didn't score in those drives. When you say 58 tigers, 24 Troy, your assumption is that those drives that had drops didn't result in points already by themselves.

That's is exactly what I saw was dropped touch downs. I remeber we had the same problem early last year.

If the all-world talent and defensive coaching of Alabama couldn't solve it with 14 games-worth of film to study, I don't think anyone else could.

auburn and troy had a decent handle on solving it. we have to be less predictable and run the ball more. we have a stable of running backs to keep a fresh one all game long. we seem to have gone away from the run game.

game film from 16 and 17 games respectively but Nick Saban and Kirby Smart chose to watch none from the previous 15 games?
I mean, that's the only explanation for running roughshod over one of the best defensive coaches in the history of the game in January if our Coordinators have been "solved."

everything, but I wonder if in fact maybe we have been "solved" in the sense that there may be some formations that we only run one play out of, etc? The bad guys sure have seemed to know what was coming on more than a few occasions this year. Things are called "tendencies" for a reason.

Alabama had one week and didn't believe DW could beat them.
Everyone has had a library of film for entire offseason. They're very ready for us.
We have to execute as in block and catch.
