I’m headed to the game with wcu son tomorrow. If you have never been to a game in Cullowhee I recommend taking the trip tomorrow. The leaves will be nice and it should be a good game. Their band is big and good a create a great atmosphere. Also you can eat at haywood smokehouse in Dillsboro for some good brisket and bbq.

College football in smaller arenas is awesome. I grew up going to all the Davidson games with my dad. Good times! Yes, Cullowhee is stunning this time of year.

My daughter applied to Clemson, Auburn, and Western Carolina and had her choice which to go to. She knew which one I preferred, but Auburn definitely treated and hosted us the best and Western was the most scenic (my wife and I love going to Cherokee ). Ultimately, she’s a Tiger( Clemson)

I grew up going to Marshall games with my Dad. When MU joined the SC we took a lot of losses, esp to Furman. When we won our 1st game against Furman, I knew we had arrived in the SC. I feel a lot of Nostalgia for those games.

Furman definitely has eyes for SoCon title & a deep playoff after last season.
WCU has been having a dream season so far, definitely has some 1983 vibes for the Catamounts. Coach Bell has really picked that program off the mat & turned them into a contender in short order.

My son would love to attend WCU but unfortunately they don’t have a varsity lacrosse team. He is a football player as well but wants to play college lacrosse.
Have a great uncle who’s in the WCU athletic hall of fame. He started for four seasons (1933-36) at offensive and defensive end and played every minute of every game in 1934, 1935, and 1936 seasons. He was an All-North State Conference selection in 1935 and 1936. He also served as the school's student body president and was a three-year letterman in basketball. He went on to serve as a teacher, coach, and administrator in Haywood Country schools for 40 years.
