Were you surprised Kansas blogger didn't know Jack Sh*t.....

May 25, 2012, 5:16 PM

about Clemson, our history, where we were located, etc...accept we were in the ACC...and were a football school. Of course he probably was young, but many in the SW don't know much about The Tigers.

Saying...being in the BIG 12 will give those nice folks a great opportunity to see us in action.

Go TiGERs!

The year Clemson won the national championship

May 25, 2012, 5:21 PM

One of the Nebraska players thought we were from Texas. When asked what made Clemson so tough he said "maybe it's all that long horn beer they drink."

that was "lone star" beer. i got a t-shirt with a cartoon caricature of the outline of the state of sc, with danny pointing towards where clemson is located, and the caption reads "now you know where clemson is."

What do you consider young? Im 36. Ive lived my entire life in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and some in Colorado. I have followed almost exclusively the Big 8 and later the Big 12 in my lifetime.

Most of the eastern schools I don't know where they are. Because I have never cared. The reason I know where Clemson is now is because there is a chance they are coming to the Big 12, the conference I follow.

I'm not sure I am the "norm" for Big 12 or Kansas fans. Like many of you I care about my team only, and while I follow college sports I don't need to know where every school is located. I care about my team like you do, and those we play against.

ACC to me, from the media we get, is always about UNC and Duke and its basketball centric. That should tell you more and give you some idea of what kind of conference you are in more than me not knowing where Clemson was. I knew it was somewhere in the south if that's any comfort.

I didn't know Wake was in North Carolina either. Or Villanova and Temple were in Philly until we played them there.

My knowledge is less about where universities are located and more about math, logic and how the internet works since my degree is in computer science with a specialty in computer programming and a minor in math. I speak 10 different computer languages, and unfortunately one of my skillsets does not include geography of where universities in the United States are. (I still don't know, nor care where Bucknell is located - kudos for you for knowing why I chose Bucknell)

"76, where you are from how familiar are you all with SEC teams. Do you know more about our rivals,South Carolina? "

I was born in Kansas, have lived in Denver, OKC, and been in Houston for 22 years.

The only thing I know about South Carolina is that they are in the SEC. I couldn't name one player that has ever played for them and I do not know what a Gamecock is. I do know about other SEC teams though, I dont live completely in a bubble, but I dont even remember the last time South Carolina was a top 5 team.

I try to avoid the SEC as much as possible. If you had lived in Houston right after Hurricane Katrina and had to deal with all the LSU refugees from New Orleans you'd understand. I cannot stand their arrogance which makes Texas look humble.

I wouldn't knock the guy from Kansas. I sat near some guys at a GT game a while back and they thought Clemson was in North Carolina. I mean, we are two hours away, we play them every freaking year, and they seriously thought we were from North Carolina.

I live in nyc and work with someone from the city and played football at akron. I asked if he knew what state clemson was in and he didnt...he just knew they were in the south. This is the most common answer uo here...people just have no idea.

For years, folks in Omaha thought we were in Alabama...

He didn't know jack until I took him to a game last year. He now asks constantly, when are we going back to Clemson?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Ha! I have relatives out west...

May 26, 2012, 9:02 AM [ in reply to For years, folks in Omaha thought we were in Alabama... ]

and when I first told em I was going to Clemson, they asked me if our main rival was Bama or Auburn! Perhaps we should have named the school the Real University of South Carolina.....cuz after all, WE ARE!
