Sorry, Joking aside, anyone looked at the videos? There is some setious damage and scary stuff happening in LA. Don't wish this on them but sure seems with an ocean roght there, they could find water to extinguish some flames. Sounds like poor city planning.

Was talking about that at work today. Why can’t they have floating pumping stations in the ocean pumping water to the fires. Not sure what the distance would be, but regardless it’s achievable.

Dump planes, dump copters, pumps, water trucks, etc, etc., seems pretty self explanatory with trillions of gallons just few miles away, how can a coastal city burn when they knew it was coming. Its not like a bomb dropped in city center. Im not a firefighter but this seems like shockingly horrible mismanagement??

"Wednesday afternoon brought some advances to the efforts to control the fires, though officials have cautioned that they were far from being contained. Helicopters and planes that were previously grounded because of extremely high winds were cleared to drop water on the blazes. The winds, which reached 80 to 100 miles per hour in some areas, had weakened on Wednesday afternoon to 50 to 60 m.p.h., according to Devin Black, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service."

Still not sure I’d be comfortable in a helicopter with 50-60 mph winds…

You can't possibly pump water from the ocean on the flames and homes. The ecological results would be mind blowing. And no one is standing up for amoeba today!! You are going to kill many of these this way. Come on guys, see the future here!!

That's part of my take!
Funny thing or not so funny, my ex-wife lives outside SF and we still chat so I asked about fires and weather. She didn't know LA was burning, how???? She said she had to Google after I text her. Sounds like ole Gavin Newsom and medis is trying to keep it hush so people dont panic. How could people 100mi away be oblivious?

SF and LA are 400 miles apart. About the Clemson is from Richmond, VA. Different worlds. Try to think before you post.

Uhmmm Mr Fitch, are you saying because Helene crashed the mountains of SC/NC and I live in Charleston I shouldnt hear about the bad weather in Upstate? I mean there are only 10mil people in LA a giant distance of 350mi from SF, but in Mtns SC/NC about 250k, I guess I shouldn't hear about it?
I mean it is the same state and just up the coast a ways. I guess I should think before I post? Maybe I did think before I post, maybe you did not? If Savannah was burning marshes and city heading towards Charleston and MB, pretty sure the news would be wide open and most would know.

TigerBigBASS ... My apologies. Sorry I flew off the handle. It's hard to explain to a non-Californian how far apart LA and SF are, how much the two cities dislike and ignore each other, and how a fire in LA is about as interesting to SF as a fire in Richmond would be in Clemson. Peace. Go Tigers!

Can i fill in for your friend and be the resident conspiracy #### for this one? I think this one may have actually been a natural occurrence .....but who really knows.....i do know when the winds blow that hard after it is sizeable there isn't much you can do though.......cutting the budget from the mayor did not help............others would say its DEW (directed energy weapon) starting the fires like with paradise california........once again no one knows......actor james woods lost his home and is claiming on twitter a big insurance company (state farm) recently rescended many peoples fire inurance protection recently so if thats true that is suspicious. LA like many large metros has what some claim is a DEI hire mayor.......it usually means said city has purposefully place unqualified person in a high position to intentionally cause controlled collapse of specific or overall parts of city for the benefit of a shadow controlled global entity that keeps the illusion of government going while actually weaponizing it when they choose.
hope i fulfilled my role as a daily rental conspiracy ####.

knee-jerk reactions, but she should resign immediately for utter incompetence not just for poor planning; nor just for leaving the country - as those can be explained in some way or another, but for the inability to act/talk like she gives a flip... She's terrible.

Heard FD budgets have been cut for years and closed stations exist in the area due to lack of funds, among other infrastructure issues. Imagine insurance rates are very expensive in the event it's even available.

I have a friend that was the Cheif over wildfire prevention and maintenance in SF county (name???) but was managing outskirts Diablo MTns, Santa Cruz, etc. All the bordering wild lands and he quit a high paying job and took much smaller job in Montana.
Reason being, city officials wouldn't let him do controlled burns, wouldn't let him cut fire lines in natural areas, basically wouldn't let him manage his million acres or whatever it was. Said they passed a law that he could also be sued for derelict of duty or something like that. The county wanted him to hire like hundreds of goats and walk them through high fuel areas. He said he was not a D@mm goat herder and he quit, haha!

is embarrassing.
I’ll take your tds, but educate yourselves and keep in your Christian minds and hearts that these are real people suffering and dying.
How would you feel about people in Cali criticizing Western NC for not being prepared for a hurricane they could track for 2 weeks across The Atlantic. You get it???
Poor post, even worse thread. Be better y’all.

i'm not in an evacuation area, BUT you're constantly looking out the window at the hills, hoping you don't see any new pop-ups, checking social media for information. i thought my sliding glass door was going to totally blow out tuesday night thanks to horrific bursts of wind. and then last night a new fire broke out in the hills near the hollywood bowl - that's contained now. fires were breaking out in the hills in studio city. there was talk that COULD some of these be the work of arsonists? i don't know. i'd just like to enjoy watching the football game this evening.
