weekly prayers

8

Nov 3, 2023, 7:30 AM

What a week. I am glad that I have been a part of the Clemson fan family for well over 50 years. It has toughened me up. I remember as a young girl coming to games with my dad, an extremely proud Clemson graduate, all the way from Summerville, walking the campus, him showing me his old dorm, his old classrooms, his old parade grounds (he was there when it was still Clemson A & M) and speaking to literally every single person he saw. Go Tigers was, I believe, the first complete sentence I spoke. We hardly ever won games but it wasn't about that. It was about TigerRama and floats and the guys grinding it out on the field and We will get them next year. It was about souvenir programs that the players would sign and watching my dad's face light up as he sang his Alma Mater, regardless of the score. I miss that. I wish I could bottle that feeling and share it with everyone who is only worried about the score and the record and what someone else makes as a salary.
And so this week, it is my privilege to raise some Clemson student athletes in prayer. I don't care if they win or lose. They are part of the family my father gave to me when I was little and he started explaining football to me, that it taught loyalty and teamwork and strategy, long range thinking and comradery. All valuable lessons lovingly taught in the framework of a glorious game.
This week I ask prayers for Xavier Thomas, Troy Stellato, Will Taylor, Dee Crayton, Davian Sullivan, Quinn Castner, Cade Denhoff, Payton Pitts, Dietrick Pennington, Marcus Tate, Jackson Smith and Greg Williams. I ask for any illness or injury to be healed. I ask that their hearts are untroubled and that they know that they are worthy of love and respect. I ask that they excel in their studies and that they gather in all of their blessings with joy. I ask that we, who serve as a part of their family, remember to treat them as the human beings they are and pray for them according to their needs. I also ask prayers for Garrett Riley and for all the same reasons. Just imagine moving your young family to a new place, totally unfamiliar and trying to make a new life in the viper pit they have moved to. I pray for his family, that they have joy.
Go Tigers!

One hundred and sixty-two posts since 2004. A perfect example of quality not quantity. Thank you.
