Weather. LOL. What a putz.

”We struggled so much, so we just wanted to try and see like it worked last week. We were going to try it again."
Does this sound like an OC that has any idea what he’s supposed to be doing?

Absolutely clueless! An OC that doesn't know how many touches his primary running threat has? Doesn't know that there were no QB runs til mid 3rd quarter? Windy, so threw short routes (screens) to the perimeter... did he ever consider going to our strength and running the d a m n ball?
Also, "our goal is to win the game." Are you kidding me? What about the individual plays (the "objectives") that contribute to accomplishing the goal?
I'm sorry, but Brandon is truly lost.

My feelings aren't hurt in the slightest, it's simply childish to try to insert politics into a sports board.
I like to think we are united by our love of Clemson and don't need idiots trying to divide people on here.
Sorry I offended your inner-snowflake.

No clue what he’s doing or what we are on offense. Stale play calling and inept QB play; stumble for a couple of yards, throw a pick or stand like a statue and get sacked. An offense has to be more than just run up the middle. Saw quite a few games yesterday, we were the worst and most unprepared by far. Not an elite offense, in fact, not even good. Lost by 3 TD’s but the game wasn’t even that close. Whatever the media says and piles on this week - we deserve it.

A wise feller once said
“Do or do not. There is no try”
The most innovative play this whole season was the TD after the half in Tallahassee. Every other game, Clemson is playing in a phone booth. If it’s true that Dabo has a major hand in calling plays, then why is Streeter here? Dabo’s doing his job for him

And he's not smart enough to know that the big plays he was talking about resulted bc of a penalty, and if not for the penalty, there wouldn't have been a big play, it would have been just as dead as the rest of the plays he called!!!
I'm being honest by saying that when Sabo made Streeter and Wes the coordinators, I thought that Streeter was a good choice, boy I was wrong with that call!!!

Bubble screens and running up the middle can only get you so far. Weather was an issue when ND came to Clemson that one year and we pulled out a victory.
At least we won’t make the playoffs just to be blown out in the first round. We knew that ND would run more than pass, but still couldn’t slow them down.
With all the close games, it was a matter of time for this to happen. At least we make the ACC Championship game. This loss is on the coaches.

Literally predicted word for word this interview during the game. “ oh well the weather affected our game plan so we threw left and right and ran up the middle draws when the whole world knew we would”. That kinda conservative thinking got the talented kids whooped. Need better coaching on offense period. A toddler could tell you weren’t going beyond 10 yards downfield. That’s why the OLBs and safety’s were in our backfield and line of scrimmage.

Dabo's biggest mistake as a coach was hiring Streeter and Goodwin as OC and DC. He gave them the positions with low pay in order for himself to get a bump in pay. Streeter is way over his head and is the worst play caller in college football. What other OC would call 6 straight bubble screen? Goodwin is inexperienced and does not know how to advance a defense. He also does not know how to make in game adjustments. Throughout the season the defense has regressed. There should be no way that any team can run on our defense but ND made it look pretty easy. Overall, Dabo needs to let both of them go immediately. DJ is back to being #### poor again!!

Slap DJ around, this time the game plan sucked. Why started out throwing swing passes to the sidelines. Go up the middle and run QB power with bad weather.
As far as defense, I remember a few blitzes but nothing in the neighborhood of BV’s cookbook. We are the old read & react defense (Steele) and that just let a decent OL and RBs push you down the field. In hindsight load the box and make the QB throw it.
Oh well…glory days never last forever.

BS sounds just like bs (as in bullish-t). He calls almost all of the plays. Period! End of story!!! This epic fail seems to me to be on our co-ordinaters.
On a different note, I surely was impressed with Chansey Stuckey and his coaching staff last night. I love to see Clemson guys succeed. I just wish it had been against another team besides Clemson.

Good given a fan a list of plays to call and they would’ve done a better job than Streeter last night. These guys make tons of money, but it doesn’t make them smart. After DJ demonstrated he could not throw even a screen pass accurately, Why not just run the wildcat with cade or Shipley and give Notre Dame a taste of their own medicine

That last statement, about winning games….. Wow what a completely definitive statement about NOTHING. Of course the goal is to win games, BUT improving on bad performances is equally important.
Otherwise you get these last 2 years of bad offensive football.
That sentence alone is enough to remove him of his duties. Of course Dabo won’t do it, unless he is willing to move on from an inept offense that he also helps call bad plays.
This team is being let down by coaches who refuse to expect better. Maybe the talents not there, but the fight sure as hell isn’t there with this group.

Coaches are rookies and can't judge a players potential, look at how our WRs and QB play has been a joke for two years, never used a TE last season, no adjustments after half time....it's laughable like to coots that enjoy losing in this socialist point system forum

Streeter post game is embarrassing
Nov 6, 2022, 9:04 AM

as the game it’s self. Off a bye week you get totally dominated, in your presser “weather impacted the way you called the game”. FFS that is a cowardly statement; similar to comments by made the team that just kicked our ### a few years back. Remember “the best is yet to come”, pretty obvious the best has already happened. I haven’t felt this way after a football game since 2003 WF. Its hard to put into words how bad this loss is. It should be a reevaluate everything type loos. This is 100% on Dabo and Streeter.

well in over his head. Also DJ is not all the problem but is on that pedestal with the light on him. I think he is a average ( sometimes well below average ) QB. I'm not sure he would start for many other ACC teams. His decision process is extremely slow and if we don't have anyone better then the Tigers are in bad shape. I think he either needs to try the NFL or consider a transfer once the season is over. His future stock will be no more than what is now. I don't see a continual upside to his play.

DJ has hit his ceiling and Klubnik surely has a higher ceiling. But it's hard to imagine Dabo opening the QB competition and letting Cade get enough reps to displace DJ. Next year, I expect Dabo to once again say, "DJ has not done anything to not be the starter".
The DL will move on to the NFL and Clemson will be worse than this year. Maybe could still win the ACC.

Go watch You Tube replay - pay attn to blitz management
Nov 6, 2022, 1:42 PM
|
|
Ya'll may not want to hear a different opinion, but have any of you posters watched the You Tube replay of last night's game?
I did, and focused on (1) Defense (esp. D-Tackles) and (2) Offense (OL and RBs picking up the blitz).
Try doing it this way instead of just following where the football goes.
(*) This post will only be about the offense to keep it from being ridiculously long.
Here's what you'll learn if you do this (watching the entire game with focus on OL and RB blocking):
(1) Neither DJU's play nor the play calls from Streeter were categorically poor. Both were actually good, with DJU's blatant exceptions being overthrow of the (otherwise) TD pass to Davis Allen, followed shortly thereafter with the terrible pik-6. Outside of that, DJU played pretty well CONSIDERING the other circumstances. (C.Klubnik has shown for the 2nd consecutive game that he is not ready yet for big time college football. I believe that he'll get there ... but he clearly won't get there this year.)
(2) Our OL is adequate (far from brilliant, but not awful) with pass protection. (Run blocking, we simply do not have enough guys with the heft and agility of J.McFadden and M.Tate to be top notch run blockers; that showed against the first DL that we've played this year with a pulse.)
(3-a) Our blitz management (this is on Streeter) is not up to par. Watch the replay. N.Dame ran a few 'complicated' blitz packages, but did these same 'complicated blitzes several times in H1, and again with several times in H2. We either did not make adjustments to formations and plays (if we knew how to execute those adjustments) or had not practiced for anything like this. If we had not already practices what protections, personnel, and plays to use to neutralize these blitzes, then that reflects inexperience on behalf of the O-Coordinator. If it's that we haven't practiced this, then we'll see very soon if Streeter moves quickly to start to address this glaring deficiency.
(3-b) When we faced a 'standard' blitz of just one blitzer through one gap, both RBs know where to look and know who to hit when the blitzer comes. However, only Mafah can execute the block. Our other RB (the one who I love and everyone here loves ... and who will remain nameless in this post) just cannot block. He tries, but is no more effective than a Kleenex. (This is on C.J.Spiller.)
(3-*) Streeter needs to teach new tactics to neutralize the complex blitz packages, and he has to realize that one of his RBs is darn near useless in stopping a blitzer. Can Streeter make this adjustment? Whether he can or doesn't will determine whether he can evolve into a top tier OC, or whether he's just good enough for us to beat teams which we overwhelm from a talent perspective.
Back to DJU: If you see how many times an un-blocked blitzer was either at DJ's feet, or that ran DJ into the arms of ND D-lineman, you'd understand why his passing accuracy and 'going through the progressions' routine did not look great. DJU had a ND defender whacking at his legs or sitting in his lap on most pass plays last night. No one (and I mean no QB) can be effective in this situation.
SUMMARY: Streeter can get better (learn from this), but he's got to recognize the elephant in the room (or LB in DJU's lap) as being something that needs fixing. And if Streeter's plan moving forward is to simply hope that our non-Mafah RB can suddenly become an adequate blocker, then Streeter isn't up to the job. (***) But I am confident that Streeter will see the obvious, and start to implement steps to fix this problem.

I’ve already heard from nearly everyone here what I’ve been thinking, so I’ll ask a different question. Regarding the passing game: Why didn’t we ever throw quick hitters last night? Little passes to tight ends that are five yard vertical-ish plays-no wind interference, etc?
We all know DJU can’t read and go through progressions; why not take that out of the game? Lack of mobility and no progressions means the playbook must be adjusted for the personnel or change the personnel to accommodate the playbook. In this case the OC should watch what’s happening and adjust. Obviously, he didn’t.
I was stunned that we tried to throw flat passes to running backs and bubble screens that had to fight the wind instead of simply going for 4-5 yard gains per play, as ND did.
It might have helped if he had watched what was happening and made changes instead of keeping his nose in the play sheet.
