Nothing has been shown like it will if the coots kick our butts the way that Louisville did. If you think that the fan reaction was extreme with the Louisville loss, you haven't seen anything to how they'll act if we get handled by the coots the same way. Tiger nation was bad with their 5 straight losses, watch how they'll act if the coots beat us the same as Louisville did. Dabo may not return after hearing what the fans in the stands will say to him. It probably worse than anything I've ever heard when I was able to be one of those fans in the stands. I remember well how it was near the end of Tommy West tenure at Clemson, what was said back then would be considered as mild compared to the breed of fans in the stands 2024 will be screaming at the top of their lungs, it will be totally embarrassing for us old timers...

The coots don't have to kick our butt's. Just beating us will do it.

Well, I can tell you now, the Gamecocks are licking their chicken lips just waiting to get a piece of DABO and company. They've been looking pretty good playing a tough SEC schedule this year. Look out Clemson and get ready for another possible AR$$ whopping!!

There were a ton of recruits at the game. Did they say “I ain’t playing here” or “They really need me “??

I doubt any said, “Sign me up for some of that” …couldn’t kick a FG (again) and complete confusion, lack of preparation, time management and general chaos on the sidelines from our coaches.

Louisville dominated Clemson on Saturday

I was there and saw it 1st hand. Clemson players were flat. The play calls were stale. And the defense was a step slow compared to Louisville's tailback. Enough said.
So agree with Pate, some program flexibility is in order. Dabo's move.

Yep, the ball is certainly in Dabo's court right now, and I do believe his actions will determine how much longer he will last at Clemson bc regardless of everything he's done at Clemson, our fans will never understand how he could lead our team to where he has led us to where it has regressed to date. Clemson has always been a FB first school, and the Tiger faithful is a very prideful bunch that will only be quiet for just a little while before it comes to a boil!!!
And I don't think that the portal is a major problem for this team that retains players the way that Clemson does, I personally believe that the major problems are with so many position coaches without very much experience...

That was not just a loss or a fluke game. Someone on here after the game stated that Dabo is at a crossroads. The next move is up to Dabo but he had better get it right this time.

This has been coming before this season. LB's have been out of place and not filling gaps all season. DBs and Safeties miscommunicating. Sacks have fallen off over the last few seasons. Time to look hard at Wes. Reciever play has been poor for a couple seasons. (Time to go Tyler) We lack explosiveness, ability to separate. We have talent but are lacking development. This has crossed over from offense to the defense side of the ball. Are we walking into another 2012 Orange Bowl against WV?

There or really I guess anyone who watched it at all can see that there’s at the very least deep POTENTIAL truth in this statement. Hard to feel any different when watching us get physically dominated and barely put up any fight at all. To an average to slightly above avg team. And the “talent” we have right now on the high end is not being replaced by guys with similarly evaluated “talent” but with fallback guys . The likelihood of returning to real high level play feels almost nonexistent … can we change/adapt?

I believe that our guys was being physically dominated bc they haven't had very much playing time since the UGA whipping. Most of our starters and the #2s have been only playing a half of a game and their bodies aren't used to playing a full game and they got wore down by the middle to end of the 3d quarter...

Our guys were worn down from the opening kickoff. Saturday night was the worst product Clemson football has put on the field in years. Last year you could blame most of the losses on a few bad plays and/or a few bad decisions but Saturday night was a complete breakdown in all phases.

To pin this solely (and that's how the article read to me) on not getting involved in the transfer portal, is absurd and a hot take from a talking head to get clicks. I am not saying the lack of activity in the transfer portal is not part of the problem, but there are so many other issues this team has.

Yeah, but which of the other issues isn't corrected with an influx of talent? Poor special teams? Poor situational coaching? Is there anything else that more veteran talent doesn't mostly fix?

recruiting in general has fallen off due to dabo not wanting to offer nil packages in recruiting. big time guys arent looking are way..and the ones we have gotten are decommitting due to other schools offering them some cash. its either continue to decline, get with the times or quit and let someone come in that will get with the times. its going to go one of three ways.

Pate stated on his show that we had the more talented roster and had no business losing to Louisville like we did. If that’s so, then the transfer portal is not the reason for this new “permanent damage” status that apparently is the result of this one game.

All this loss did is give clowns more ammo to spew about the oh so magical portal. That $#i+ fails more than it helps across college football. This loss absolutely sucked, but to blame it on the facts that we don’t have port players is just flat out stupid. We failed at everything that night….including the fans. Winning cures all so let’s get back to it. We loss any control we had for a conference title so all the staff can do is worry about the next game…..hopefully more than they worried about the last one.

I don’t blame the fans at all. Down 3 scores the coaches had the team standing around with the clock running. Plays not getting in. No urgency! I high school teams knows to hurry up when your are down in the 4th.

I don’t think he was referring only to the portal. Dabo, who I love is not a good game day coach. He needs gifted coordinators to do that and he does not have that, particularly on defense.

Look at our recent recruiting rankings.
2022: 14th 2023: 15th 2024: 15th 2025: 16th (will finish lower)
It’s only going to get worse for this program without major changes. We aren’t recruiting at an elite level. We don’t have an elite coaching staff. We aren’t taking the portal seriously.

An elite coaching staff can and will take high 3 & 4 star recruits and turn them into top players in the country!!! There is maybe only a hand full of schools that have more than 3-5 5 star players on their team that were recruited in as a 5 star players...

Most programs make up for their lack of 5 stars by finding immediate impact players from the portal. Clemson doesn't do that, while also having not having an elite staff to develop high schoolers.

High 4 and especially 5 star players in the portal would cost an arm and leg, and it isn't worth the kind of money they demand to play as college level players. That is already getting completely out of hand and honestly, it would pisss me the FK off if I knew that Dabo put our FB program in that kind of pay for play situations. Plus, that type of money has to come from sponsors that would be very hard for our FB program to come up with and maintain.
Just think for a second how much anger that would cause with our players that wasn't coming close to getting that much money when they are just as important to the team as 5 star RB, WR, or QB. I know if I was the guard that watched my QBs back with him making that much money and not sharing equally with the rest of the OL, I would let him get hammered at least 4-5 times a game, and if he got injured, Oh well, you should have shared some of that money, and it will happen sooner rather than later...

Ain't life tough. Not all people who work for a living make the same salary. I'm sure you have worked with people who had more skills than you, and who were paid more. Were you really that immature and resentful that you would like to see them get injured just because they didn't share their paycheck with you. Tell that to the players in the NFL.

He went on and on, so doomsday. Give. Me. A. Break.
Clemson is 6-2 not 1-8. Florida State is finished. Clemson lost a game, I don’t care if it’s the only other decent team we’ve played. We lost the edge on the bye week.
Yes, we were defeated on a bye week. Then again after it.
Alabama has 2 losses as well. In the SEC so tougher schedule? Yes and they beat Georgia, but lost to Vandy! I would take Louisville over Vandy but that’s beside the point.
This guy is another butthead looking for fame on the misfortune of others.

But the deeper issues seem to be the biggest problem. A long term solution is greatly needed. Better play calling, player development, strength and conditioning. Things are a just simply out of whack

Strength and conditioning coaches can't get your starters and your #2s conditioned to play 4 full quarters, only playing 4 quarters can do that and our 1s and 2s haven't played 4 quarters since the Georgia game, so yes they looked sluggish and wore out, it's bc they were, they're not used to playing that long, especially against a team that their 1s and 2s have been playing 4 quarters since the start of the season and they were in top condition for playing that long!!!

We are on a trajectory of winning 8/9 per season in perpetuity until things change. Special teams are abysmal and seem to be a necessary evil they just accept as something we HAVE to do and do the bare minimum.
Nobody made an adjustment on the chop blocks, nobody did anything to try and make the offense move, nothing happened all game that wasn't happening in the first quarter. Abysmal.

This is the truth, I have prayed that BV would return to Clemson sooner than later. Our BV coached defense is the main reason we were getting so much top talent to Clemson and our defense. And BV was the most responsible on the team that helped us win those two NC and had us playing in 4 of just 4 team playoffs. Right now with Wes Goodwin as our DC, we can't get into a 12 team playoff.
Some believe that our biggest problems to date is with the coaching, well there isn't a single doubt in my heart, mind or soul that inexperienced position coaching is our #1 biggest problem. I absolutely believe that if we had elite players up and down both sides of the ball, our coaching staff that Dabo has employed right now, they couldn't coach our team into ever winning another NCG, and I truly believe that!!!

That chop block thing, I don't think our players even know how to chop block without a penalty being called on them. I have said that they should be taught to chop block and once a team uses it to stop or cripple one of ours, we should do the very same back to them. They take one of ours out the game, we take two or three of theirs out the game. Pretty soon they will learn that the Clemson coaches will not stand by and allow their players to even attempt to injure one of ours without retaliating with the same kind of blocking that usually do injure our players for weeks before they're able to play again!!!

We are at a cross roads. Strive to compete for a natty with elite status or be content with middle tier 8-9 Win seasons. Until I see some concern from those in charge to correct our present trajectory, I am going to settle in with our being a middle tier program. It was fun being a part of an elite program. I just don't see those now in charge being willing to commit to what it takes to be a consistently elite program competing for a natty on a regular basis.

Hence why he said it doesn't change his mind if we do. Whatever amirite?
What I saw Saturday Night was an entire team unmotivated. Not a team full of holes in talent. The portal wasn't the issue. Nothing clicked and yes that is on Dabo. But even he looked rather glum in the pregame interview.

In our championship years we always had this kind of game but we somehow managed to win. If we had made our FG’s and been awarded the onside kick (which would have eliminated their last score) we would have won 27-26 and we’d all be saying “whew, that was too close”. We recruit high character athletes so let’s give them a chance to get in a hard week of practice and see what they produce before we “mail in” the season and the program. I was there and I hated it as much as anyone but I didn’t boo the players and coaches and didn’t throw stuff on the field and didn’t leave until the Alma mater of our great University was sung.

I try to be positive and patiently wait for our program to develop, getting back to what we were in the championship years. But the truth is, we are not a well coached team. I believe we have the talent to be top 10, but we are not one of the top 25 programs right now. I knew we wouldn’t beat Georgia, but Louisville exposed just how poorly coached we are.

When your fans have to urge you on to get moving on offense, you have no answers on defense, and your body language is saying I’ve got better places to be.. that says it all to me. Dabo has lost the program .. maybe more so he’s lost confidence from the fan base.. but coming out flat like that in a win or your done type of game makes me question if any of these guys would run through a wall for Dabo. Worst part (and I think this is why he’s lost the confidence of the fans to eat whatever he’s cooking) is that this performance 100% proved the pundits right, been playing good but hasn’t really played anyone… well… they got a solid point now!!

Due to our cupcake schedule, with the game in hand our first team defense is not used to playing 4 quarters and it showed against Louisville. This is also why our stats are terrible is because Dabo thinks he can develop more players after the game is in hand.

Have we beaten a team with a winning record? Probably looking at least at two more loses.

Can’t portal without tampering. Dabo is not going to tamper. I can support that. This loss had zero to do with not portaling. Problem seems to be coaching. Goodwin is a failed experiment.

I’m not the biggest Josh Pate fan, and I can recall a few years ago where he was rather disrespectful to Clemson on one of his rants, but over the last few years he has backed off of being a jerk just for more views and now that he’s more established, he’s more of a ‘call it like he sees it’ guy.
I think this was nothing but respectful, and sometimes the truth hurts. Not saying everything he’s saying is accurate, like about using the portal and NIL and such, but he’s right on the fact that we’re just not at the same level anymore, and things will have to be acknowledged and fixed to get better. We’re not developing much of our guys. We’re not elite in coaching. We don’t have the athletes we used to. We’ve been going downhill for years. Defense has been getting worse week by week over the last few years. Us fans were incredulous at our slow pace and vanilla calls and porous defense, etc etc.
Things have to change. It’s not one issue, it’s many. I sure hope Dabo will fix it.

Poorly executed… Yes. Clemson dominated every statistical category except the scoreboard. Is it permanent damage? No! Is it permanent damage that Texas A&M Lost to South Carolina? No. Is it permanent damage at Alabama has two losses? No, is it permanent damage that Ole Miss has two losses? No. what an incredibly shallow statement By Finebaum.

Jeff Scott and Brent Venables. That’s when this went to ####. They were replaced with family and friends hires instead of capable coaches. We still had talent coming in back then and could have developed them. Instead we lost them and dropped down ever since
