I've noticed that many CLemson fans (and their head coach) here don't want ANY part of joining the SEC. They want to keep playing substantially weaker opponents in a basketball league, but SAY they could play in the SEC and compete at the top of the league week in and week out. An annual win vs. SC does not mean the team could beat a top 15 out of conference team, Bama, Texas, Tennessee, Ole Miss, and then the SEC Championship to make the playoffs...(this is UGA's schedule for example).
It's nice to see some fans here that want a challenge.

Why not go Independant like Notre Dame? Play tough opponents on a National scale like they do. Joining an overcrowded league might not be smart. There's a reason the Fighting Irish won't do it. The Big 10 and SEC are simply overcrowded.

FYI, the SEC and Big10 are in the process of creating a scheduling agreement that will be a problem for ND scheduling quality P2 schools in the future. Probably will have an impact on Clemson getting a second SEC opponent as well.

Not too tuff. ####, when you lose a game in the sec you don't fall in the rankings but a spot or 2.. The sec Is overated. You won't hear that on esecpn though. Kinda like CNN and camela.

I dont personally recall Dabo saying he doesnt want to move to the SEC. I think statement like "I love the conference we are in" are typical coach speak. He cant say otherwise publically.
As far as the fans I think A LOT of us are tired of the ACC and the fatigue has only grown over the years. I see more people here take shots at our own conference than they flat out say they want no part of the SEC. I am not afraid of playing in the SEC. Over the last decade we have faired pretty #### well against both the SEC and B1G. A move to the SEC would take us from a should win our conference (ACC) unless we stub our to having a shot most years but it will be a tough path.
Personally I used to be OK with the ACC as recently as when the B1G was a complete mess, anyone remember Kevin Warren??? Probably about 5 yrs ago I started to shift my view and want out. Its a matter of where. "Culturally" we fit better in the SEC, but I am convinced that B1G might want their own southern footprint.
I also 100% discount the theory that UF and USCjr not wanting an instate rival in the SEC will even be a legitimate factor.

You all have such great reasons for leaving our home and joining the SEC...we have won 3 natties in the ACC...do you really think we would have won any in the SEC...it's something you can't be very sure of...too many loose ends! If we get in (GOD forbid) and we don't make the playoffs for a few years you'll be ready to jump on the coaching carousel, just like your brothers at the poultry palace...everyone in the SEC wants to be Bama...ain't worked worth a darn for any of them! You chicken lovers and round ball haters enjoy winning for a little while longer!

CLemson played ONE of the top SEC teams at the end of those two Championship years when they were completely healthy after playing soft ACC schedules. That is totally different than playing top ranked SEC teams every other week. Bama was limping into your second championship game and it showed.
SEC teams always have guys out at the end of the year because of it. UGA had multiple starters out with season ending injuries during back-to-back. Next man up! We had two OL starters out, our best LB out, and our backup RB out this past Saturday night. Next man up! We don't make excuses like bama and ohio state did when their WRs got hurt. All that told me is that those teams didn't develop their WR depth during the regular season.

Clemson played without key players in the first 2 games for titles against Bama. In fact Bama had the healthier teams both games and the easier games before the Natty in the playoffs. So what's your rebuttal to that?
Injuries are part of the game and the "grueling schedule" argument is worthless to me bc alot of players get hurt in games with inferior opponents or non contact injuries.

This logic used by SEC fans like yourself just proves it is pointless in arguing with you. To believe that you get more injured playing in the SEC over any other conference is moronic. The game of football is a brutal sport, period. Just like the slogan "it just means more." That is also another gimmick. To believe it means more to a player who plays in the SEC than any other conference or division just shows someone's intelligence level. I would argue it means more to players who come from nothing or a meaningless conference to prove themselves to be able to make it to the NFL.

The people on this board do not represent the majority of Clemson fans. Most real fans would love to join the SEC, It would be a great fit. I truly believe the AD department wants to also, but don't think its going to happen. The thing i keep hearing is how top heavy the SEC is, So the Big Ten would probably be the option. And, if the it is, there will be a fracture in the fanbase. While the Big does pay more than the SEC, it just doesn't have the pageantry nor cache of the SEC.

while USC will be hoping to participate in the Liberty or Cheez-It Bowl that absolutely no one will care about.
This is a new era of college football, where the season will now be defined by what happens in the 12-team playoff. Those regular season games now only matter to determine who makes it to the postseason.
If our path to the playoff is easier, and we can stay relevant to recruits in the ACC, I don't necessarily have an issue staying put.
