But I don’t think many of you have ever really listened to him. Dan and him have a long time relationship and this is a pretty candid conversation that I think might change SOME opinions… take the time to watch it.

My “hate” for Deion is exclusively related to 1988 before, during and after our game with FSU. He talked so much ####, then backed it all up.
After that, I really couldn’t care less about him. Still don’t care. He was one #### talented ####### though.

I dont think its hate for Deion
Nov 7, 2023, 7:38 PM

It’s hate bc of how he did it… I grew up watching deion and he was one of my favorite athletes and if you listen to him or watch his stuff on YouTube, he does things the right way as far as what he is trying to teach and get out of his players. I love some of the stuff he says but I can’t pull for him this year bc of how this team was built (basically the way he said it and brought in 70 new players lol). Which I get is all in the rules but that’s where ppl have the issue that it’s even allowed… I def wish him success once he Builds and recruits his program to be successful… I t don’t think it’s dislike for Deion it’s dislike for what he was allowed to do if that makes sense.

What?
Coaches are making a lot of money and that continues ONLY if they win. 1-11 Colorado was going nowhere fast. Got rid of some who probably shouldn’t have even been on scholarship. He has one chance to be successful at this level…DO IT!

Getting rid of “some” is not what he did though … he didn’t bring in 10 players to help build his culture and start somewhere , he brought in like a complete new roster… and I don’t have the time but I’d like to know where these kids that were on scholarship … you know promised an education… are now. And I don’t buy that at all, so you are saying If they went 2-10 this year and maybe 6-6 the next year he would be gone after two years lol uhhh no it’s not bama they know it takes time. Again I love Deion but ppl don’t wanna see this be the norm in college football and that’s just a fact. Really every body that talks about missing the old college football should be pulling for Clemson hard bc we are the only resemblance of the traditional way and what we loved for so long about college football .

My point is that it being Deion in my mind has nothing to do with it… plug any coach in and ppl would be pulling against them. I think there’s this false narrative out there that it’s bc of Deion and the way he Carries himself and that’s just not true for the most part. Again I’m pulling for him long term once his recruits are in there and he’s started to actually build something but I’m not gonna lie I want them to lose every weekend this year , and it has nothing to do with Deion bc I’m a huge fan.

If players can break them, why shouldn’t a coach be able to?!?
If the scholarship is for football, and you aren’t performing as expected, you don’t deserve to keep your scholarship.
These “kids” are adults. Since they want to be paid and they want to be able to transfer if they wish, then they should also be prepared to be cut.
Welcome to the real world.

Yes you are making my point… with them getting paid and all of that which is what ppl hate about the future of college football and where it’s heading. It’s completely legal what he did I’m just saying that’s what ppl didn’t want to see that love the way college football used to be. I’m not necessarily disagreeing with you on some of your points I’m just saying that points are why ppl are pulling against them bc that program is a super amplified version of what no one wants to see…

No, I hate him as a person. He beat his wife. He assaulted a teacher and was fired from the high school he founded. He defended his son assaulting a different teacher. He defended his daughter defaming her college even when it was clear she was lying. He's a piece of ####.

Great player and great athlete (for me I didnt care for him until he was in the NFL and MLB because I don't care for FSU) but he needs work as a coach. Watch what happened against Oregon State just before the half and listen to the interview. It cost Colorado the difference in the final score.

Deion is great and I love the majority of his messages.
That said, I don't like what Colorado means for College Football as a whole. The fact that an entire team can now be chopped up and rebuilt with players from across the country is an absolute indictment on where the sport is at as a whole.
Deion just happens to have chosen for history to remember him as that particular trailblazer.

The innocence of college football died a long time ago.

It happened when college football became big business, when TV contracts became huge, when coaches started earning massive paydays, and when players started getting treated like celebrities rather than students.
I don’t like what the sport has become either, but Deion and Colorado are a symptom of a problem that has been brewing for decades.

Deion is different in many ways for sure, but he is doing what he thinks is best for his team. Whether Deion will be successful will take several years to determine.

I gave him the benefit of the doubt, but after they beat TCU and he was boasting and screaming about no one believing in him made it seem like it was all about him, which is the vibe I get. He obviously cares about his kids and transfers but also don’t agree with how many players he forced out instead of proving he could coach them

One MAJOR difference in Deion and Dabo. Dabo walks the walk and always has. Deion talks the talk but his life experiences and history indicate that he does not walk the walk.

The only issue I have with him
1
Nov 7, 2023, 10:09 PM

Is the way his players sometime act on the field and that he doesn’t correct any of it. I get it is all about swag and flash but some of it is too much and they all look like fools then when they get beat. All the other stuff with him as a coach the boasting and the cameras and the cutting players all of that doesn’t bother me. He does seem very genuine and that he cares deeply for his teams and his players. If he came to Clemson tomorrow and did the same thing he did at Colorado everyone would be on board and rejoicing and saying how unstoppable we would be so a lot of the hate is just hate because it’s not their school and probably some jealously and envy.

They are simply acting out what they are taught. Deion did the same thing when he played. He never shut up and it was always all about Prime Time.

I think Prime has learned a lot about the importance of coaching this year... He is a great motivator and his message is solid... BUT, once the game starts your plan becomes the most important factor; a part of that is preparation beforehand, but also recognizing what you need to do to put your players in position to be successful... adjustments that are needed are ultra-important at the Power 5 level. This is where he and his staff have not been what they needed to be. The "craft" of coaching can be a difference maker for teams when all other things are considered equal.

Maybe, but honest question: Have we seen enough to even know if he is a good coach? I see him more so far as a jumpstarter - jolt a program back to life. I don’t believe there’s a big enough body of work to say he’ll be a great coach who builds a perennially powerful program. So far he’s 4-5 and in 9th place in his conference. Improved yes, but there was nowhere to go but up.
The off-season will be interesting to observe. Will he clean house anew? How many of his current players will portal out? Live by the sword…
In all honesty, no I’m not a fan - old enough to remember the hotdoggerry. Just being upfront about that - well sort of retroactively up front. I do like the AFLAC commercials, though.

People don’t hate Deion as others have said. They hate his actions and the way his players carry themselves.
After TCU you would have thought they made the playoffs. After Nebraska you would have thought they won the National Championship. After Colorado St you would have thought they won the SB.
Then reality set in when Oregon blistered their @ss. Deion is going to get talent bc he’s Deion. They will get better but he will never win a national championship as a coach. Obviously I can’t prove that but I fully believe it.
The way he done it is what people have a problem with and it’s not just the fans. It’s the coaching world as well. Look at how many actual HCs that have taken public shots at him. Other HCs don’t like it either.
But what they hate most is the flash and the smack talk. If you’re talking before you’ve even gotten to bowl eligibility that’s a problem. He put a huge target on that team that was nowhere near ready for prime time against the big boys and they’ve been shown over and over since.
He keeps claiming he’s 7/8 players on the LOS away from competing and if he really believes that then he’s lost his mind. It takes years to build the necessary depth along the LOS to go toe to toe with Georgia/Alabama/Ohio St.
That’s also not even mentioning the coaching disadvantage he will be at if he ever meets one of them. Also… he just demoted his OC after what 8/9 games in the middle of the season? Why? They were rolling and putting up points… until teams got some film on them.
Theirs actually an article on 247 from today with anonymous coaches around the country asking what in the world? Why would he demote the OC who honestly has done a great job considering how bad their OL is. This is Sean Lewis who he hired away this past offseason from Kent St where he was the HC. How many times do you see a HC leave for an OC position even if it at a power 5 school? It’s happened but it’s rare and then he demotes the guy bc he can’t score 35 a game against legit opponents.
I really believe Deion thinks he’s a playoff contender and a title winner in under 4/5 years and if he truly believes that then he’s going to be awfully disappointed bc I don’t think even he realizes what he’s gotten into.
He will never win a national championship as a HC. Even if he did somehow get the FSU job or a premier job it won’t matter. He will be out coached and out classed by the 3 big bullies on the block as long as Saban/Kirby/Day are around. That’s not even mentioning Harbaugh or Sarkisian who are close.
Bottom line… Deions mouth and his players actions and the way they act is what people have a problem with which is why everybody that’s not a Colorado or Deion fan is pulling against him.
