First, the lack of depth in ACC has and will hurt us. Simply never being pushed by decent teams did not help. Winning by 20 against really bad teams does not help. We played a few even remotely decent teams and had a very favorable home schedule.
Second, we did not win 1 road game against any quality opponent. (Hurt by horrible ACC teams). Resist the urge to say ACC road games against horrible ACC teams are good wins.
Best teams played.
Boise on road, loss
Kentucky at home, win
Memphis at home, loss
SC on road, loss (same sc team that won 2 and lost 16 conf games)
Louisville on road, loss
Duke at home, win
Unc at home, win (although bad team, it is still unc).
Louisville neutral location, loss.
To sum up our schedule, super favorable home schedule. No road wins to brag about.
Third, we are not a physical team (exception of chef).
Fourth, we don’t seem to have figured out end of game plays.
So, not getting pushed by ACC, not knowing how to win road games, and not playing physical games - has and will hurt us. (Depending on matchups). If we play a finesse team, we stand a pretty good shot. But playing big boy physical teams like a lot of the SEC and Big, we have our work cut out for us. And of course, all on the road.
Can it be done? Yes. Will be tough though.
I still have hope.

We made the Elite 8 last year despite "a down ACC".
This ain't to say you don't have some real points but everything goes out the window come tournament time. Last year is a prime example - sometimes you just need to get hot at the right time and things can happen.
That said, I'm sad that a tough draw in the big dance could dampen that feeling of a historical year for Clemson basketball. I certainly hope we can make some run to not let it go to waste. I think we have a good shot at the Sweet 16 again but really just depends where we land and who we're with.

You may be right on sweet 16. We do differ on historical year. Not that the numbers are not historical. But if we are honest, the gaudy record is at least partially due to how bad the ACC is. When there are only 3 decent teams and all 3 have historical records - that tells you more about the other teams, not the 3. That is not to say that the 3 are bad, but let’s face it, the others are just, bad.

That is not to say that the 3 are bad, but let’s face it, the others are just, bad.
Both sides can be right here - historical year and ACC not like the old.
However, we can't control how good a conference is at any time and, sure, it'd would be great to say we kicked azzz when the conference was great but honestly I've never looked back and said "boy, we did so well in a tough conference that year". It's exactly why I'd love to see us make it to the Sweet 16 because THAT will be remembered more-so than how we did in conference for a year.
Of course, I'd be a fan of seeing us win the ACC tourney once to say I witnessed it but big dance > conference achievements at the end of the day.

This team can’t throw it in the ocean right now , doesn’t matter home or away . We shot less than 20% from 3 in the final home games this year also. Couple this with the turnovers we commit and you just won’t win any game against good competition . Unless a miracle turnaround ones, we will struggle to win the 1st round game and will be eliminated in round 2 for sure .
