We all have our 'favorite' CLEMSON moment .....
Aug 5, 2017, 6:36 AM

I have several but perhaps my favorite is the Woody Hayes incident that led to his demise. The great coach couldn't handle losing to the lowly Clemson Tigers in a big game. None of his replacements have done very well either.
They shouldn't be ranked ahead of the Tigers until they show it on the field. Potential means nothing.
What are your favorite Tiger moments?

Great list, but that UGA road win was 1986

The 1984 game was the heart-ripping 60+ yard Kevin Butler kick at the end.

Butler missed a shorter one on the next play, with the game ending in a tie.

comes to town. We win. The moment was being in the stands after the final horn, savoring the 1st time in a LONNNGG time, that: "we are a legitimate #1".

My all-time fav is after Herschel Walker and the Dawgs lost to CLEMSON, and me and a Dawg co-worker walked by to my car in silence. When we got to the car, I could not help but grin as I unlocked the car, and he threw his program over the car at me. It was a classic moment in time.
The ride home was pretty quiet too. Dawgs - you gotta love 'em.

Mine was the game we beat FSU in the valley for the first time since they had joined the ACC. Tommy finally upped Bobby.
Then we lost to like Wake or Duke. What a way to waste the talent he had on hand.

I still remember the scores of those games. We lost to Wake (Chris Barclay was a force to be reckoned with) 45-17 and the next week upset third ranked FSU 26-10. Then Duke 40-7, the next week we destroyed USuC 63-17, followed by #9 Tennessee in the Peach Bowl 27-14 on January 4th.

The Peach Bowl against Tenn was amazing and the last few mins of The Orange Bowl against OSU. Ofcourse the Natty last year as well. All of last year really. Auburn, Louisville, Nc State, FSU, VT, and the Natty were all amazing games.

I have many but one of my favorites was a win over FSU in, I believe, 1999. It was the last time I ever saw the students pull the goal post down and march it to the reflection pond. It was a hot night but so exciting!

You are correct, Drummer. 99 was the game the Dillard's bags were floated over DV and the tiger wore prison stripes in honor of a certain Criminole. I was at that one, also. 2003, I guess, was the one the goal posts came down. Does anyone else remember that one?

The Catch II (the game that solidified my love for Clemson. I was 15 years old)
Bomb from Whitehurst to Hamilton in the 03 FSU game
Dwayne Coleman's Peach Bowl slap (that entire game)
"Spiller! 50 yards! They didn't even touch him!"
Artavis Scott's high five

I was at that game. I remember when tech got that TD right before to make it 17-7 and you could sense the energy in the stadium had changed. It was quiet, I remember thinking "now tech will make their comeback". When CJ catches the ball I just shook my head, typical play call, 3rd and 4 and we throw it 3 yards behind the LOS and tech is all over it of course. Then CJ makes those 2 moves, and the rest is history.

If I could remember them, I could write a book. At least, I know they all occurred sometime between Sept. 1, 1955 and Jan. 8, 2017.

January 9th, 2017 is my all time favorite Tiger joy moment and before that it was when we beat Nebraska 22-15 in 1981 when I was 13 years old. I went crazy with joy both times but beating the Tide after losing a game we should have won the year before it was sweet revenge!!!
Before 1981 it was the Woody Hayes punch for me too!!

In person I'd have to go with Georgia Tech in '06. First Gameday in Clemson, wrecking the Wreck, 0 catches for Megatron, JD and CJ going off. I still remember when CJ broke K. Michael Hall and Kenny Scott's ankles I started screaming at the top of my lungs "Oh my God Oh my God, that's impossible!" I didn't have a voice for almost a week.
A close second would be against FSU in '03. I still remember Whitehurst hitting Hamilton down the field for the TD.
For a loss that I witnessed would be the Miami game in '05. It sucks that we lost that game in triple OT, but was it ever awesome. What I recall is how loud the crowd was from start to finish. I was in the nosebleeds in section R or S and it still sounded like a freight train.

...I was driving around the campus. I walked into the stadium to get a good look. As I was driving off, I stopped the car and rolled down the window to ask a couple of students where I could get a good pizza on campus. They said to head over to Catfish Biff's. I then asked them if they served Clemson fans over there. The return stares were priceless!
I did proceed over to Catfish Biff's. Great pizza! Not quite Peppino's, but good.

Other than the obvious big ones, DW's first needle threading td against UGA got me excited about the possibilities to come. Up until then it was all talk and hype, but after seeing that, getting over losing TB was getting easier.

So many... I'd have to go with either win over FSU 1989 or the National Championship Game this year. However you could go back as far as " the catch " or Watson's first throw against GA for a TD as many see as well. Good thread, great memories.

Besides the National Championship. DW4 returning to beating the coots on one leg is up there. I was at the "We will rock you" game and it still gives me chills thinking about it. Also, even though we lost, the ACC championship in 09 was crazy. Spiller had over 300 yards. Last but not least the LSU game watching those player fall out was priceless.

I'd have to go with victories over FSU in Tallahassee in '89 following the infamous Puntrooskie play. The "FSU- 0 and 2" chant to their tomahawk chop was priceless. That season ended with the WB security standing firm to keep us from taking down the coots' goal posts after the 45-0 smack down. I believe they played FSU earlier that year and lost 59-0 meaning ESPN audiences that year watched them give up 104 unanswered points!

I was at the Clemson Football Game in 2013 when they were playing against Georgia Tech. It was super cold that night. Well, it was a crazy game with a lot of getting up cheering and sitting back down. As I went to sit back down, my blue jeans tore in the rear. It was a big tear too. Even worse, I was going commando that night and let's just say, "THOSE BLEACHERS WERE COLD!" At half time I had to run to the store and I bought some Clemson Sweats...GO TIGERS!

Beating Notre Dame at South Bend in 1979. Billy Lott's TD and Obed's 3 FGs to win it!
Place was a dump then. wooden bleachers and no ice to mix your bourbon with in the stadium. Was hot that day in November - in the upper 70's to low 80's.
Road tripped there.

Standing in the upper deck at the Orange Bowl vs OU as the final minutes ran off the clock ran off, realizing that Clemson was going to be playing for the National Championship. Something which for the majority of my life was just a pipe dream. January 9th I was standing in the upper deck once again, this time at Raymond James Stadium, and this time that pipe dream had been made a reality. Unlike the Orange Bowl a year earlier you didn't have time to actually think about what was happening because it just happened all at once. I still get goosebumps thinking about both of those moments.
