Here is the thing, whether it’s kneeling during the national anthem by NFL players, or DJT not putting his hand over his heart is their/his constitutional right and what gives you the right to infringe upon those rights given to EVERY AMERICAN?

I served this great country for 20+ years and during two wars. Guess what?? I don’t give two 💩’s if they do or they don’t. None of my business!

Their rights is their rights and who am I to infringe on them?

Same here. We were taught as kids to stand at attention and face the flag for the National Anthem and put our hand over our heart for the Pledge of Allegiance. The hand over the heart for the National Anthem is a relatively new thing. Maybe last 15-20 years? I still stand at attention and face the flag during the National Anthem and I’ve had young people who don’t even know me try to tell me I’m being disrespectful.

Or just because the casket is passing by? At Clemson games , the announcer asks you to put your hand over your heart for the Pledge but only says to remove your hat for the anthem. And, of course he adds that veterans not in uniform may render the hand salute - which I do.

It was just when the casket was passing by. Evidently it’s been added to the flag code to place your hand over your heart during the anthem.

(C) all other persons present should face the flag and stand at attention with their right hand over the heart, and men not in uniform, if applicable, should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart; and

I got curious, so looked it up. I saw a few people salute as the casket went by, but many people put a hand over heart. Military is supposed to salute the flag as it passes and civilians are supposed to place hand over heart. Trump put his hand over his heart in the same situation at Bush's funeral, so he knows the routine. The had-to-scratch-something theory is probably the correct one.

When the flag passes by, you salute if you were in the military or put your hand over heart if civilian. Not just funerals, but any type of march. I had no idea, but probably would have figured it out in the situation. Trump didn't forget on purpose because he's so aware of optics. He might have had some trouble after holding in his farts for so long while sitting beside Obama. Or his hand was in his pants scratching something.

The only thing he really cares about is his appearance. If he put his hand over his heart, everyone would know how small his hands are in comparison to the man beside him. He had to sit in a row of people who can't stand him, and beside a person who hates everything about him (Melania).

I will agree that Trump should have followed suit with the others. I doubt that was a purposeful display of disrespect, as Trump said Carter was a "very fine man."

I'm not sure what your point is either.

What is a true American? 12 % of the voters in this past election were veterans. 65% of the vets voted for Trump. 34% voted for Harris. As a vet, I voted Libertarian. I think most of us, vets and non vets love our country regardless of how we voted.

Trump I suspect loves our country as well. Biden too even when he glanced at his watch several times when the 13 killed in the Afghanistan withdrawal arrived at Dover AFB.

You're getting your bowels in an uproar over very little. Trump made a mistake. Biden made a mistake. I seriously doubt either man intentionally showed disrespect at their respective events. Both men love America to take on the job of President.

You can continue to be the arbiter of who is a true American if you wish, but you may well want to pace yourself over the next 4 years.
