Well California told Allstate and State Farm they had to cap there rates so they took a hike and left California well before this disaster....I doubt many if any of those homes were insured

Joe Biden isn't paying anything. California is a blue state hence future electoral ramifications. The last thing people who own those homes need is federal (taxpayer) aid. Virtue signalling on millionaires bailing out millionaires is both hilarious and incredibly frustrating.
Obviously we need to help Americans in need. But this has absolutely zero to do with Joe Biden and everything to do with the Democratic Party saving face.

I feel bad for all the people of L.A., or the surrounding area. Many have lost homes and memories. However, most of those people will be able to rebuild, and most will recover fairly quickly. I don't feel sorry for them because they choose to live in an area notorious for fires. California has a policy of not dealing with forest detritus. It is a major reason for the fires. The fact that the govt did less than nothing for the south, after the hurricane, and the debacle with Hawaii; biden bailing out the elites is worse than a slap in the face

They won't be able to rebuild quickly if they stay in California based on the states regulatory environment. It'll be years before the necessary permits, environment impact studies and whatever else the kooks running things out there can think up are completed and they are able to rebuild. And those will be the lucky ones. Many home sites will be deemed unworthy of being rebuilt on to make the environmentalist weirdos happy. Enjoy watching them eat their own.

While the property values are obviously a majority of the value, you $ figures are light for average structure in LA area. $500k will place a nice doublewide for CootFlorida. Just the permittingto build in that area will run close to $100k and that doesn't include the architect, structural engineering, landscaping, etc. You are $250-$400k in these hillside properties before you start the foundation. I recently helped a friend remodel her 2000sf $1.3mil townhome in SF and just her 240sf deck cost $28000 and it wasnt special. Permits, demo of small patio and dump fees were over $5k. Double your numbers from Florida to Cali as they tax heavily and bill outrageously for anything that requires a govt official.

Sorry. Newsom needs to raise state taxes to pay for this. He's been sitting on the pile of kindling for a decade and has been told countless times that this could happen. I don't feel the need to rebuild Paris Hilton's mansion in Pacific Palisades or Malibu. They have insurance. If not, let their fellow Californian's pay for it all.
