UNC NOT GOING TO SUE ACC

IN my opinion NC State Sen. Phil Berger in a statement to WRAL TV in Raleigh NC just let it be known that no NC state supported school will be leaving the ACC any time soon. UNC certainly won't be filing a lawsuit against the ACC.
Phil Berger is the most powerful politician in the state of NC. When he says he wants the ACC to remain a major conference with headquarters in NC, you can bet he is not going to let NC schools destroy the conference.
He says things will settle out in 2 years and the ACC will be just fine.
So, do you think the person who can control the legislature who funds UNC and who influences who is appointed to the board that controls UNC/NCSU is going to help destroy the ACC which is a big money magnet for the State of NC?
So, FSU/Clemson can forget getting any help from UNC.
If you want to know more about Sen. Phil Berger, Google Phil Berger vs. Town of Summerfield, NC and Phil Berger supports legalizing gambling casinos in NC.
I will try to post LINK to Berger's statement about the ACC.

Yep Everything will settle out in two years when Clemson and FSU are gone. Cal and Stanford can hold it down.

He said the ACC had "THE BEST" TV contract at one point in time. When was that?

I don't think he knows what he is talking about. He just supports the ACC because it brings money into NC.

In 2003, prior to Virginia Tech and Miami joining, the ACC had the highest payout of any conference.

Can't you read...we had the first major contract and it was lauded by every school and even after the extra signings etc. Everyone was happy...but when the SEC and BIG got more money the green eyed monster emerged and FSU and CCC wanted better contract cause the others were superior in $...maybe Clemson deserves more money but the FSWTC does not! Any school who hires a coach to look good to black folks then has to fire him cause he can't coach need not be consideredclass! We need to take a hard look at the they have been our home and the reason for our trips to the dance...don't think the committee ever took FSU seriously...and for good reason!

It would be a disastrous decision to stay in a conference that gets $40 million a year less per team as compared to other conferences. Especially when your currently on equal footing performance wise, but will not be able to continue that with such a disparity in revenue in the future.
Either you are naive as heck, or just making stupid statements to stir the pot!

That is one of the most inane comments I have ever read. We HAVE TO leave the ACC. It was alredy relegated to 2nd tier status with the signing of the new playoff pay schedule. Acc will be somwhere from 30 mill to 50 mill behind SEC and Big. It is either leave or accept 2nd tier status. Must be a coot.

Clemson and FSU don't need any help from UNC.

Those brands are by far the most valuable brands in the ACC. That's why they are fighting so hard to keep the Tigers and Seminoles in the conference.
Worst case, we stay in until the current GOR expires then leave without owing the ACC a dime, along with eternal enmity.
The ACC apparently is hoping for a slow death rather than a quick one.

I might would agree if moving conferences didn’t actually improve our chances. More playoff spots allotted, more money in an arms race and the schedule in the BIG not being that much different.

Phil doesn’t sound like he knows anything about the current landscape of college football. If UNC gets a behind closed doors invite to the B1G, they need to accept it

They cannot make that decision and powerful politicians value the ACC as a NC business more than they value UNC in a different conference. If the ACC collapses, UNC will obviously join another conference. The legislature can always add more money to UNC/NCSU budget to offset the amount they would make by leaving the ACC. JMHO. The state of NC owes the ACC because the 4 NC schools have always been favorites and have gotten favorable treatment from the ACC. ACC championships were held in NC FOR YEARS.

After the ACC held the state hostage by threatening to move its headquarters out of the state he had the NC legislature give the ACC $15 million to stay in the state. Then the ACC moved the HQ to Charlotte. What was wrong with Greensboro? He sounds like the jerk he is and can't take any other position.
