who remember the massive balloon release at DV in 1983?

we set a Guinness World record that day with like 300,000 balloons released (don't know exact number). It was a truly awesome sight to behold and an overall great day, as we destroyed "ACC Champs" Maryland 52-27 (we were on ACC probabtion and ineligible).
But I did NOT know this story......
In 1986, Cleveland set out to break the record by releasing 1.5 million balloons. It didn't go well.

If you can't tell by looking, I'm not sure my words will convince you.
But, yeah. the 80's were the time of the short shorts Nair commercials, the advent of the Lady Bic razor, and very revealing swimwear. (only in the front tho)

Back in 78 there was this girl that hung out at the skating rink that always wore tights and you could see the poof.
It was fun to run your fingers through in the parking lot too.
Saw her a few years later at the pool and it had obviously had a wax job.

balloons went on forever. We were fairly high up in the old West End Zone (RIP) and it seemed like they balloons would never end.
Boggles the mind to think how much we killed wildlife and polluted the environment (or whatever the objections are) that day.
