LOL...please don't tell me you count the ACC championship for Dabo. He'll, we could join the MAC and win some championships. SC stomped your "championship" team last year and would have walked away with the ACC but we play in a big boy league...not a glorified high school league.

please tell me you call that "Playing" in the league. Yes you are a member, but you are far from a "player".
Very typical that someone criticizes your classless coach and your response is SEC SEC SEC.

You shut your clucker and have some perspective...
you are in a league you have NEVER won, yet any time we call you out you run away screaming SEC. Its like the equipment manager receiving a letter for the football team, then running his mouth to the opposing team's QB.
If The Ol' Sac would have come to Clemson, we would have taught him some manners. But he didnt, so he is still classless.

I have to ask...
Sep 29, 2012, 10:32 PM
|
|
when was the last time you watched a team intentionally turn the ball over on downs with more than 2 minutes left in a game??
That's what you are suggesting Spurrier do right?
Clemson was in the final seconds of the game, opponent with no timeouts left, and were able to kill the clock with their kneel down.
Completely different situation. No coach in the country would have intentionally turned the ball over on downs.

over on downs?
Believe me... if Spurrier calls another rushing play and gets a first down, you guys would be calling him out for that too claiming he is just trying to run up the score by trying to get another TD.
I can here it now... "he wasn't satisfied by just a FG..."

I think you kick the field goal but Toogie what do you think about Spurrier running a half back pass for a touchdown against UAB (I think that is who it was) when you are up by 20+ points late in the game?

That is a fair question.
Sep 29, 2012, 10:56 PM
|
|
I truly believe that play had one singular purpose, and I mentioned to the people I was at the game with the minute it happened. I think we were just giving future opponents something else to think about.
At that time, we didn't know yet how good or bad Mizzou might be. So why not give them something else to think about in that formation.
But hey... it could have been purely a case of Spurrier running up the score. I am certainly not going to pretend Spurrier won't run it up on someone. South Carolina has certainly been on the whipping end of that more than once at Spurrier's hand. And the story of Spurrier specifically trying to break the scoring record by an opponent in Sanford Stadium is legendary.
I'm simply suggesting that not everything Spurrier does is purely evil, like the suggestion he was trying to run it up today.

While I agree with the sentiment overall - I think throwing the ball into the endzone instead of trying to run the last 2:30 off the clock is classless. I don't think kicking a FG and giving a chance to your kicker on 4th and long when it is apparent you aren't confident in him. This gives him an opportunity to get some more real game reps without any risk.
